London: Taylor and Francis for the Linnean Society, and Longmans, Green, and Co.,, 1885 A very good copy in the original paper wraps with 2 colour plates at the rear. Paper based on 4 specimens from Natal. The wrap has some repaired tearing at the spine and top but is complete and clean. The stitching of the paper to the wrap is weakening. The paper itself is very bright and clean.

London : Methuen and Co. , 1908 A very good copy of the 1st edition with colour frontispiece by Arthur Buckland. With 40 page publisher's catalogue at the rear dated August 1908. In blue grey cloth binding with gilt titles to front board and spine. The binding is in very good condition, with a little bumping and edge wear. The contents are clean and bright.

London and New York : T C and E C Jack Ltd; E P Dutton & Co A fair copy in the original decorative binding with a pasted picture and black titles to the front board. Part of the Told to the Children series - undated but circa 1910. With colour frontispiece and 7 further colour plates of 'little actors from photographs'. The binding has fading to spine and board edges together with a little pulling to the spine. Many text pages are unopened. One play (Uncle Tom's Cabin) has been read and occasionally annotated in pencil. Occasional spotting but generally clean.

London and New York: FREDERICK WARNE & CO. Undated but 1870's, in the original red decorative cloth binding with colour printed frontispiece and numerous illustrations in the text. Part of the 'Round the Globe' library. A nice example of an unpretentious victorian natural history book written for children to give them information about the natural world. No indication of author or artist. The binding has wear to the spine with some loss of cloth at the bottom. Some fraying to corners. The original endpapers are present - with the remains of a bookplate on the front pastedown and an oval bookseller's stamp on the rear free endpaper. London and Edinburgh: W & R Chambers, Limited A good copy with dustwrapper in the original decorative cloth binding with 9 colour illustrations by Chas. Pears. Undated but early 1900's. A nice collection of fairy stories. The wrapper has considerable loss to the top and bottom of the spine and back section. It is slightly grubby. It is in a removeable plastic wrap. The decorative cloth binding is a little shaken, with a slight warp to the front board, some pulling to the spine and slight wear to corners. With frontispiece, title page in blue inks and text with 8 further illustrations. Many small black and white illustrations in the text. There is some browning to page edges and the odd spot. There is a more recent bookplate to the front free endpaper and some marking on the endpapers coinciding with the edge of the dustwrapper.

Undated but early 1900's. Part of the very popular 'Told to the Children' series. The card binding has some nibbling and loss to the top of the spine and there is a small piece missing from the side edge of the back board. It has general wear. Part of the Told to the Children series - undated but circa 1910. The binding has some bumping to corners and the spine is a little faded with some pulling. Internally contents are bright and clean. The front endpaper has been cut out. Last page and half title page have brown toning.

London : Methuen and Co. , 1900 A good to very good copy of the 1st edition. The grey-blue cloth binding has gilt titles to the front board and the spine. It is in good to very good condition with a little pulling to the spine and wear to corners. There is light spotting to preliminaries, end blank leaves and page edges, but the contents are generally clean and bright. Page edges untrimmed. With 47 page publisher's catalogue at the rear dated August 1900.

Dunedin, New Zealand: John McIndoe Limited, 1979 A very good copy of the first book in Peter Hooper's futuristic trilogy. In the original dustwrapper designed by Chris Gaskin, who also provided illustrations for the book. The wrapper has some nibbling to edges and a small area of scuff on the front. A previous owner has neatly added John Hooper's dates after his name on the inside front notes. The wrapper is in a removable protective wrap. The light blue cloth binding with gilt titles to spine is in very good condition. Contents bright and clean with a little browning to endpapers and the occasional light spot to the foredge.

London : Methuen London Ltd, 1988 A near fine copy in very good wrapper. A fantasy re-telling of Irish myth 'The Expulsion of the Desi'. The wrapper is complete without price-clipping. There is a little crumpling to the top edge and a very small repair. It is in a removable protective wrap. The cloth binding with gilt titles to spine is in near fine clean and bright condition. Contents near fine - light toning to pages, very light fold to fep and half title.

Paris: G Charpentier et Cie, 1888 En tres bon etat. VG copy in contemporary full leather binding from the Petite Bibliotheque Charpentier. The binding has raised bands to spine, gilt titles and gilt decoration to inner board edges. Aeg. Marbled endpapers. Original page marker present. With 2 full page illustrations by Uberti. The binding has very slight sunning to the spine and very light scuffing to boards. A lovely copy.

London: T Boosey and H Escher, 1811 A good copy of an extremely scarce work, written to support the learning of the German language by English students. In contemporary half leather binding with marbled boards and gilt titles to spine. Contents: title page; preface and dedication in both languages; note 1p; text in 3 books in both German and English pp 1-219; page of advertisements; final blank (detaching). The binding is clean and sound. It is scuffed, particularly on the corners. Contents are very clean with the occasional spot and turned page corner.

London and Edinburgh: T C and E C Jack A very good copy in the original decorative card binding with 8 colour illustrations by F D Bedford. Part of the Told to the Children series. Undated, but there is an inscription dated Xmas 1911 on the front endpaper. The binding is in very good clean condition with a little edge wear. Contents in very good clean condition: it was clearly not a favourite Christmas present because most of the text pages are unopened. London: Methuen Children's Books Ltd, 1982 A very good advance proof copy in plain card wraps with accompanying letter from the Promotion Director of Methuen Children's Books to the Junior Fiction Buyer of CM Distributors in Nottingham dated July 1982. The binding is a little grubby but the contents, illustrated by Martin Ursell, are in very good clean condition.

Edinburgh and London: William Blackwood & Sons A very good copy in contemporary half leather binding with marbled boards and endpapers. Undated but early 1880's. With vignette title page (stating that this is Vol 2 in their new issue of George Eliot's works), second title page, contents list, illustrations list, list of works of George Eliot and text with 6 black and white plates. The binding has raised bands and gilt titles and decoration to spine. It has light wear to edges, including spine bands and corners, and there is some scuffing to the base of the spine. Contents in very good clean condition.

London: Duckworth & Co., 1914 A good copy in the original blue decorative cloth binding with 16 plates by Milo Winter. The blue cloth binding has a black design and gilt titles to the front board and a gilt and black design with gilt titles to the spine. Both are bright but with some wear. The spine is pulled at the top and bottom with wear to edges. The boards have wear to corners. Contents include decorative endpapers, frontispiece, title page and text with 15 further plates. 4 of the plates appear to have been detached at one time and tipped-in later - they have a little more wear/browning to edges. Contents generally clean with the odd light mark. There is an inscription dated Xmas 1914 to the verso of the fep.

London: Religious Tract Society A VG copy of this relatively scarce book. Undated but with a tipped in note that this (and others) were given as presents on January 2nd 1851. A lovely little book, written from the perspective that nature and its intricacies were daily evidence of the work of God. With descriptions of water in many forms - from Niagara Falls to dewdrops. In the original decorative cloth binding with gilt design and titles to front board and gilt titles to spine and blind stamped decoration to both boards. All page edges gilt. With numerous black and white engravings. The binding is in very good clean and bright condition, with a little fading to the spine and a little bumping to corners. The original endpapers are present with a little marking and a presentation slip pasted in at the front. The text is clean and bright. London : Strand Publications A fair copy of Bookano No 4 with 5 pop up models. The pictorial binding is very scuffed and worn and has lost much of the picture on the spine and a large chunk of picture from the back board. Contents generally clean apart from one black and white illustration which has been part coloured in and has lost some surface. The pop ups all work: the first pop up has a bent tree which does not pop up properly, but the rest look good. Text pages generally brown toned.

London; Edinburgh; and New York: T Nelson and Sons, 1882 A very good copy in original green decorative cloth binding with black and white frontispiece and decorative title page. A collection of stories including Bluebeard and The Fisherman and the Geni. The binding has gilt and black titles with black decoration to the front board, gilt titles to spine and blind stamped decoration to the back board. It is very bright with a slight mark on the front board, a little pulling and wear to the spine and corner bumping. The boards have beveled edges. All page edges gilt. The endpapers have a grey leaf design - there is a little browning to edges but they are otherwise clean. Contents with frontispiece, decorative title page and plain title page dated 1882. The frontispiece has been bound slightly askew so the bottom edge is further out than the top. 3 pp adverts at the rear. Contents generally very clean.
