Two (2) bills from Denker & Sons of New York City for purchases in 1945 by Edelberg's Furs of Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. Edelberg's bought 10 raccoon coats for a total of $1,610. Approx. 6 x 8.5 inches each. VG, as shown.

Includes primers, instructive and improving works; early rhymes and curiosities; later songs and verses; famous fiction firsts; and magazines. 24mo. Stiff printed wraps. Fine in the original protective envelope.

NY: Tarcher/Putnam (2002). 1st edition. 8vo hardcover in dust jacket. The story of the ill-fated Polaris expedition to the North Pole in 1871-1873. Near Fine with a small remainder mark on the bottom page edge.

Signed/inscribed on the dedication page to "Al Alm" [Alvin Alm, a US government official who was a leading figure in American environmental regulation.] 213 pp. 8vo hardcover in dust jacket. Old water damage to DJ and rear cover but priced accordingly. Minimal effects to pages. Sound binding. Jacket now protected by a clear archival cover.

Armstrong rebus bookplate. Design features four arms in armor and the Latin motto Vi et Armis (By Force and Arms.) Evidently a 19th century plate. Approx. 3.75 x 3.25 inches. Unused in clean, unmarked condition. Possibly the bookplate of the Elliott Armstrong, Esq., listed in an historical compilation of noted British book collectors (A Roll of Honour by W. Carew Hazlitt. London: Bernard Quaritch, 1908.)

Six full-page portrait plates, 3 maps, and 4 colored battle plans (Nile, Trafalgar, Copenhagen and St. Vincent.) viii, 312 pp., index. 8vo clothbound hardcover. No jacket. Some bumps, marks and wear, but Good overall. Sound binding. Bookplate of H.C. Hillary with manuscript signature. Later signature of H.H. [Henry] Shufeldt (1898-1985), a U.S. Navy captain, author of several books on navigation, and co-editor of Dutton's Navigation and Piloting (12th edition.)

Upper corners bumped, but VG/VG otherwise. Some rubbing to DJ, but no tears or other flaws. Not price-clipped. Protected by clear archival cover.

NY: Pocket Books, (1948.) Vintage paperback. 1st Pocket edition, with "1st Printing, June 1948" stated on the copyright page. A study of Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis. Includes material on his theories related to repressed desires, dreams, the superego, sexualized personality, and more. Complete, unabridged edition. (First published in 1932 under the title The House that Freud Built.) 290 pp., with (2) page list of selected Pocket Books. (PB no. 522.) VG with only slight wear. Typical age-toning of the text pages, but clean and unmarked otherwise. Appears to have never been read. No creasing, prior owner signatures or other flaws.

Palma de Mallorca, MDCMLXI (1961.) Edicions La Cartoixa. English language translation. An account of the months Frederic Chopin and George Sand spent in Majorca during the winter of 1838-39. Prefaced by an extract from the memoirs of her granddaughter Aurore Sand. Illustrated by photos, portraits and drawings by the author, including a fold-out in the rear of the Carthusian monastery at Valldemossa where Chopin and Sand lived in a three-room "cell." This book evidently purchased at the monastery, with ink stamp to the half-title page: "Celda / Federico Chopin / Y / George Sand." 82 pp., chronology and bibliography. Paperbound 8vo. Cream wraps, printed in red and black. VG with minor edge wear. Clean and securely bound.

Canton, NY: Owen D. Young Library, St. Lawrence University, 1991. Limited to 1,000 copies. Paperbound 8vo. VG in dust jacket. A selected bibliography of works by and about the American poet, a three-time Pulitizer Prize winner. Introductory essay "Robinson for Our Time" and brief "Recollections About a Collection." 53 pp., portraits and illustrations.

Frontispiece portrait of Lowell and 7 text plates. Small hardcover. 5.25 by 3.75 inches. White cloth with black lettering and decoration. VG with some soil and signs of age. A good solid copy overall. A title in Harper's "Black and White Series." Text is from a memorial address delivered by Curtis at the Brooklyn Institute, Feb. 22, 1892.

NY: Picador, (c. 1998.) Reprint edition. Signed by the author on the title page. An account of the 1994 genocide that ensued after the government of Rwanda called on the Hutu majority to kill everyone in the Tutsi minority. The book's chilling title was taken from a letter written by a Tutsi pastor to a Hutu official of his church. 356 pp. 8vo trade paperback. Near Fine. "Signed by the author" sticker on the front cover.

Based on the author's experiences in the summer of 1846 in Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, and Kansas.
