First edition, this copy signed and inscribed by both the author and the illustrator. [x; 150 pages] Printed on laid paper. 24 cm; green cloth with a beige cloth spine, stamped front cover illustration, brown lettering on spine. Dust jacket has clipped corners, with the price of $2.75 intact. A series of stories around Kantchil, a tiny mouse deer that stands only one foot high. This is a book written to bring folklore to children, with stories about wise men and foolish men, heroes, rajas, animals of the forest and the river. With a glossary and guide to pronunciation at the end. The dust jacket has some wear across the top, generally good, The book is in very good condition, some wear at the head and foot of the spine.

Book is fine, dust jacket is chipped, soiled but intact.

Printed by Johnson Riddle & Co. for London Transport, 55 Broadway, Westminster, S.W.I, Victoria 6800. Signed in lower left-hand corner below the reference, "H. C. Beck." This 1934 underground railroad pocket map was issued just one year after Henry Charles Beck's revolutionary railroad map design made its first appearance in 1933. Beck's first design maps ran from 1933 to 1938. On the back, verso, are listed Places of Interest and Theatres, a feature replaced with a schematic design map of Interchange Stations Central Area on subsequent maps in Beck's first series design. 14.5 cm x 25.8 cm. This map's blue border was trimmed slightly to fit into a pocket diary, where it was preserved in good condition.

One engraving is of Harvard Hall, Cambridge, built in 1682, destroyed in 1764. Also a map of Portland at the time of the fire of 1775. Embossed black publisher's cloth with gilt lettering on the spine, this copy is signed by Francis W. Waldo: "Francis W. Waldo from his uncle Francis Waldo." Francis W. Waldo was a descendent of Samuel Waldo, the founder of Waldoboro, Maine. This copy is also signed by Elizabeth G.C. Menzies, and dated by her August 1974, the noted Princeton photographer and author. Labadie, Joseph A. ANARCHISM Genuine and Asinine by Jo Labadie. The Labadie Shop, Bubbling Waters, Wixom, Mich., USA, 1925. First edition. 41 pages. 14 cm, 5 ½ in, frontispiece portrait of Labadie. 6 in-text cartoon illustrations. Printed on the verso of uncut advertising sheets for The Federal Reserve Money from the Modern Publishing Company. Labadie starts his booklet with a manicule pointing at: "This Booklet is not copyrighted." The first chapter is "The Great Copyright Swindle." Following are "The State"; "Anarchism and Crime"; "What 'tis and 'tisn't"; "Anarchy to Toil"; "The Paramount Need"; and, "Imperialism." Bound in wallpaper, back wallpaper cover is now missing. The text paper is acidic and fragile. Labadie's portrait is on polished paper, which helps keep this creative utilitarian binding secure.

Broadside, 22.5 cm x 17.5 cm, printed on both sides, bluish laid paper, horizontal chain lines, no watermark. An announcement of relief and survivor benefit for the families of volunteers, nos braves Défenseurs, as the French revolutionary army of 1792 began the process of reorganization and re-invention to a larger fighting force through the call for volunteers fired by patriotic zeal by the Government. These volunteers were fired by a sense of "civic virtue" and "public responsibility." By the external threat of foreign armies, like Austria's, the new Republic made its continued existence out to be under threat and called on every citizen to defend it.Condition fine. First edition, 19.5 cm, 75 pages, plus 4 un-paginated pages of advertisements and an eight-page student directory, which gave the name, class and local address of each student. White paper boards with a black cloth back strip. The name "Pardoe" is penciled on the front cover. Condition is fine.

Stevenson, Robert Louis. Ten Fables with Twenty One Illustrations by Rachel Russell. London: The Swan Press, Chelsea : MCMXXVIII [1928]. With a memorial bookplate, "In Memory of Michael Hariot Huth Walters for his Friend" with the name Betty Menzies written in ink. Elizabeth G.C. Menzies was the rare woman staff photographer at Princeton University, whose images decorated the front cover of the Princeton Alumni Weekly for many years and a friend of Michael Heriot Huth Walters. Walters died suddenly. His friends at Princeton and his family, owners of the Swan Press, compiled a memorial volume of tributes from his classmates. This volume of Stevenson was given in appreciation to each of those contributors. The woodcut frontispiece is "'Drink' Sang the Daughter of Miru." Unpaginated, In-8. [iv; 36 pages; iv] 26 cm. Anticipating the death of Charles II (1630 – 1685), reign (1660 – 1685), this publication was written during the Exclusion Crisis (1679 – 1681), during which the Duke of York, James, King Charles's brother and heir presumptive, converted to Roman Catholicism. The fear among Protestants was that when Charles died, James would embroil England in a war allied with France against the Dutch Republic. Mostly unopened, this rare surviving inscribed copy records the nexus of Riccio, a first-generation Italian American, with Prezzolini, whose legendary "Voice" was far more than a review and was a publication of enormous importance to Italian culture and intellectual life. Title page backed with Japanese paper on which the book plate of Alfred Seal Haslam has been remounted on the verso, taken from an earlier binding. The modern binding is full brown calf with five raised bands and a gilt title label. The title page bears the signature of William Haslam dated 1799, believed to be the father of Alfred Seal Haslam, who took over his father's business. Trained as an engineer, Alfred Seal Haslam patented a new method of ammonia compression, enabling him to transport meat from Australia under refrigeration, holding a monopoly for some fourteen years on marine meat transport. Bound in quarter green calf over marbled boards, with binding stamp 2 of Sir Alexander James Beresford Beresford-Hope, four raised bands, with five compartments marked out in gold, with Beresford-Hope's crest of a broken globe surmounted by a rainbow with clouds at each end, measuring 16 mm x 9 mm, with his motto, "AT SPES NON FRACTA," above the rainbow. Sir Alexander James Beresford Beresford-Hope (1820 – 1887) was a British author and Conservative politician. Very good. A humorous satire of English and Continental society, its manners, habits and customs as tested by monkeys. Names are indicated but not spelled out.
