Two color postcards showing the Steamer "Benjamin B. Odell" (Central Hudson Line) postmarked 1916 and the other showing the "Hartford" (postmarked 1922). Both cards have writing on the reverse side with 1-cent stamps and cancellations that are partly visible on the front of the card.

William Channing Russel, a prominent lawyer in the city, investigated the strange affair at a private home just off Park Avenue. Russel documented every aspect of his inquiry by hand in a leather-bound journal that has survived all these years. In his manuscript, he recorded every interview he undertook and the details of every séance in which he participated.

Wood from Swansea, Massachusetts left the comfort of his family and farm and embarked on a lifetime journey. With William R. Gardner as master of the new clipper ship Monarch of the Sea, Aaron's maiden voyage brought him to the Black Sea at the height of the Crimean War. In his handwritten journal Aaron described life aboard ship, the Crimean battlefields, and a naval assault that used shell guns and iron-sided vessels for the first time.
