Washington DC: National Aeronautics and Space Administration, 1968. First Edition. B&W card wraps with two staple binding, illustration of space walk reproduced four times on the cover. Very good. 8" x 10.25", pp. 1 - 30, with frontispiece of an astronaut in space walk and B&W photos and illustrations throughout. This is the most uncommonly found booklet (EP-57) in a series of 13 (published on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of NASA. Some scuffing along spine vertical, light wrinkles emanating from spine where opened and read, however inside is clean and collectible. "Man in Space" covers the ground from those pre-Sputnik days when only a handful of scientists and engineers in the United States believed that man would ever fly in space, to the preparation for a manned lunar landing and return in this decade." Portland, OR, 1924. Tinted photo of Wilson on the front with eagle and presidential seal. Fine. 8.5" x 5.5", 4 pp., Program of events 3 days after the death of the 28th President of the U.S. Presided over by Richard W. Montague and in cooperation with Mayor George L. Baker and Gov. Walter M. Pierce. A few light fade spots, otherwise a fine piece of historic presidential ephemera. Wilson was a former governor of New Jersey, President of Princeton University and a two term Democratic president and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work following the first World War. "How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord!" (A favorite hymn of President Wilson).

Oregon: Self-published, 1959. Tan card covers with four hole punched binding in green silk ribbon. Fine. INSCRIBED, "Affectionately Grace Brown Martin / Hand-Wrought for Mary Miles / by the Author / Oregon Centennial Edition." 4.25" x 7", pp. 1 - 81 followed by 2 pp. of index. Laid in is a card of personal relationship from the author to recipient. 78 Poems reflect a lifetime of writing by the author from 1927 to 1959, all written in attactive, readable, calligraphic style. 'Go Thou, O little Book, Out to the World,<br /> And give to all who thee may read, <br /> A little lift from care, some joy.<br /> A little laughter,<br /> Or other benison to fit the need." (Title page).

SIGNED "Norman Schwarzkopf" in black felt tip pen on first day issue American Revolution Bicentennial stamp. 3.63" x 6.5" H. Norman Schwarzkopf Jr. (August 22, 1934 - December 27, 2012) was a United States Army general. While serving as Commander-in-Chief, United States Central Command, he led all coalition forces in the Persian Gulf War. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Schwarzkopf grew up in the United States and later in Iran. He was accepted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army in 1956. After a number of initial training programs, Schwarzkopf interrupted a stint as an academy teacher, and served in the Vietnam War first as an adviser to the South Vietnamese Army and later as a battalion commander. Schwarzkopf was highly decorated in Vietnam, being awarded three Silver Star Medals, two Purple Hearts, and the Legion of Merit. Sir Frederick was the third director of the National Gallery, London. SIGNED "Lady Bird Johnson" neatly across her custom book plate. 6.25" x 9.35 [viii] x [2] 3-806 with 36 pp. of B&W photographs. Clean, square copy with a few spots on fore edge and bottom corners. DJ has a few closed tears along top edge, now well protected in a mylar cover. One of America's most beloved First Ladies, she put her imprint not only on the White House but the beautification of American Hiways. "This was one of those incredible days that would make a book. Lyndon had agreed that we should invite all the astronauts' families, wives and children to spend the night at the White House." (p 288).

Holly wreath in red and green on the front designed by Ruth Keppler who was the head artist at Woodward & Lathrop, Washington D.C.'s first Department Store. This card signifies a contribution to the Washington Heart Association on the rear. Fine condition. 1969. SIGNED "Lyndon B. Johnson", likely autopen. 3.75"x 5.75" card stock with modified Presidential Seal, bend at lower right corner. Included is a transmittal letter signed by an Assistant to the Office of Lyndon B. Johnson, fine with one mail fold. Also included is a 5" x 7", B&W photograph of the former president, out of office and likely on the Johnson Ranch outside Austin, TX. "President Johnson is sory that it still isn't possible for him to give all the personal autograph's he's asked for every day..and accept this signature card with his best wishes." - Willie Day Taylor.

New York: The Outlook Company, 1909. Consolidated and Republished. Brown paper covers with titling in darker brown on the cover. Near fine. 7.25" x 5", pp. 3-125 with frontispiece of TR. Spine has three ~1/2" tear at top center and bottom of spine and one at top of front cover. Dog eared bottom edge and rear corners, with a small smudge on front and back. This small volume includes the first eleven editorials of Theodore Roosevelt, published in The Outlook from March sixth to July seventeenth, nineteen hundred and nine. The Outlook was a weekly magazine published in New York City under various similar names from 1870-1935. At the time of writing these pieces as a newly assigned Associate Editor of this popular magazine, Roosevelt was coming off of his term as president and gone to Africa on a scientific safari.

Signed as Counselor to the President on "The White House" stationary. Donald Henry Rumsfeld (born July 9, 1932) is an American politician and businessman. Rumsfeld served as the 13th Secretary of Defense from 1975 to 1977 under President Gerald Ford, and as the 21st Secretary of Defense from 2001 to 2006 under President George W. Bush. He is both the youngest and the second oldest (after Leon Panetta) person to have served as Secretary of Defense. Includes autograph note, "Fight on - Hope to see you soon!"<br /> <br /> Pat Scott Schroeder was the first female Representative from the state of Colorado, and stayed for 12 terms. She was an early proponent of women's issues, including family maternity leave, child care, and supportive policy issues. Schroeder coined the famous phrase "Teflon President" to describe Ronald Reagan.<br /> <br /> Dale Tooley was a politician, Attorney General, who ran for Mayor of Denver three times and lost all ofl them. Fine. SIGNED "Paul W. Tibbets" beneath a black and white book stock photograph of the inside of the top secret compound of the 509th Composite Group. 5" x 8". General Paul W. Tibbets (1915-2007) was the pilot of the Enola Gay. Named for his mother, this plane carried and dropped the first atomic bomb in history. The target was Hiroshima, and the bomb, code named "Little Boy" was delivered on August 6, 1945 and was the catalyst for ending the war. Tibbets wrote two books about the operation. London: Orient Line, 1960. Very good. Nine (9) original dinner menus from a Pacific Cruise on board the S. S. Orsova. Four have a pin-hole at the top where it may have once been displayed, three with light foxing or dinner residue. 6.5" x 10", folded with decorative covers of plants native to the docking ports, one menu is has a photo of the ship mounted on the front cover and another has a map of the world showing the ports visited by the round-the-world trip. Menus have been prepared by Chef de Cuisine, J. Cornwell. The regal menus are replete with 8 or more courses. Born in Baltimore to Greek immigrants, Agnew put himself through Law School after having served as an officer in the Second World War. Following a recall into the Korean War, Agnew gravitated into politics. He served as the county executive of Baltimore County and was later elected the Governor of Maryland. Although, he was reelected for vice presidency in 1972 he was later forced to resign after being charged with bribery, conspiracy and tax fraud. Rather than face trial, Agnew entered a plea of no contest to charges of evading income tax, and was sentenced to three years' probation. Fine. 8" x 5", 3 pp, usual mail folds, on Mayor's Office Letterhead with NYC crest, some ink feathering to signature.<br /> <br /> John Thompson Hoffman (January 10, 1828 - March 24, 1888) was the 23rd Governor of New York (1869-72). He was also Recorder of New York City (1861-65) and the 78th Mayor of New York City (1866-68). Connections to the Tweed Ring ruined his political career, in spite of the absence of evidence to show personal involvement in corrupt activities. He is to date the last New York City mayor elected Governor of New York. The two volume set refered to in this letter is likely: "Treatise upon the estate and rights of the corporation of the city of New York, as proprietors. New York, E. Jones, 1862" Dear Sir: On the 20th instant I sent you by Espress the two (2)Vol. Hoffman Treatise which you asked for. I enclose the Express receipt. J W Beach informs me you have not rec'd them. I hope they are not lost as I cannot replace them.

London, 1880. 7" x 4.5", note paper with embossed Royal Institute of Great Britain seal on header, four mounting tabs on rear corners, light fade across the center from where it was exposed during framing. <br /> <br /> John Tyndall FRS (Aug 1820 - Dec 1893) was a prominent 19th-century Irish physicist. His initial scientific fame arose in the 1850s from his study of diamagnetism. Later he made discoveries in the realms of infrared radiation and the physical properties of air, proving the connection between atmospheric C02 and what we now know as the Greenhouse Effect in 1859. Tyndall also published more than a dozen science books which brought state-of-the-art 19th century experimental physics to a wide audience. At the time of this writing, from 1853 to 1887 he was professor of physics at the Royal Institution of Great Britain in London.
