This volume is excellent, with blue cloth boards in nearly new condition, with title, etc. in gilt type on the spine. The dust jacket is near perfect, price clipped and with an added mylar cover. No markings throughout. Wonderful for a collector's library or as a gift.

This highly popular collection of essays is in overall good condition with somewhat soiled brown boards with a bump on the front board edge and a printed paper label of title/author on the spine. The binding is sound, pages tight except for the frontispiece, which bears a colorful caricature of Thackeray and Dickens and is loosed at the bottom.There are 91 illustrations--some in-text, others full-page plates. No markings throughout, interior very good. Nice!

This fascinating text chronicles the travels of three men, one of whom was the author, throughout the western regions of North America. The frontispiece features photographs of the men, with the tissue guard intact. Volume has 12 plates in the text. Pages are clean and bright, intact except for one that is partially torn away, and several that are beginning to release from the binding. A good candidate for regluing/binding.

This slim volume contains England's Poet Laureate (1930-1967) John Masefield's poem The Dream. The pages are uncut and clean with no marks or writing, and the volume itself is in very good condition with binding near pristine. It is signed by the poet and his daughter Judith Masefield, who was the illustrator. A very good copy.

This slim volume of 21 poems, signed by the author in a dedication, is in very good condition with blue cloth boards showing slight discoloration along the edges and spine, and minimal scuffing to the front corners. Darker blue lettering for the title and author on the front board and spine. The binding is sound, pages clean with no markings save the inscription/signature. A colored-card portrait titled "Helene" is pasted onto the frontispiece. The volume contains 24 poems. The Devinne Press colophon appears on the last page.

This classic children's book is in very good condition. Original blue boards, gilt title/author on the spine, gilt embossed character illustrations on the front and back covers. Board linings, flyleaves also have illustrations.Spine slightly faded. small scuff on spine front edge, lightly rubbed areas at top/bottom of spine and corners. Contemporary owner's signature (Joyce Young) and date (Christmas 1925) in ink on inside page. No other markings, pages clean. Obituary for Christopher Robin Milne from the Boston Globe, April 22.1996, tipped in. A fine copy of this greatly loved children's book.

This classic book for children is in very good condition. Original red cloth binding with gilt title on the spine, also a gilt embossed rendering of Christopher Robin on the front board and Pooh/Piglet on the back cover. The spine is slightly faded. Tinted paper linings inside the boards are decorated with illustrations, and the owner's name (Joyce Young) and date (1930) are written in ink on the flyleaf. Otherwise the pages are clear. There are charming illustrations throughout this pristine copy.

This volume is a very good copy with a sound binding and clean pages. There is slight scuffing along the edges of the spine. A portrait of Lord Byron with tissue guard on frontispiece. Owner's bookplate--Gertrude Kerstine--inside front board. A person of the same name is listed online (1886-1972) as being buried in Philadelphia.

This travel guide book is a follow up to an earlier publication by the same name. It is in very good condition, with a sound binding, black hardcover boards and spine with a rectangular title box at the top. Neither edges nor corners show wear. It has the original dust jacket, with a tear at the top edge, two missing strips on the front and slight wear at the top of the spine. The jacket is brightly colored and illustrted in stylized Deco figures by JAY. A mylar cover has been added. The front and rear panels of the jacket were trimmed on the corners (probably to facilitate insertion into the mylar) but the price is intact. The pages are clean. Owner's signature and date in ink on the first page. A very handsome copy.

This volume--called a jest book--was dedicated to Richard Brinsley Sheridan, founder of the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, London, and has a pencilled 3-name signature on the dedication page that clearly reads Richard, with the other two names too faded to decipher. Who knows? There are no other markings or labels. Good condition overall with rubbing on the embossed spine, edges and corners. Binding sound and pages firmly attached. At least one in-text graphic, plus a stylized rendering of Democritus on the title page, along with a notation that boarding schools and parents may safely give this jest book to amuse children "without danger of corrupting their morals , or contaminating the purity of their tender minds." Delightful copy!

This early American textbook has a quarter leather binding, with the spine in leather and heavy paper boards. The boards show considerable wear, with the marbled paper cover stripped away in places and heavily worn in others. However, both boards are firmly attached to the spine and the binding is still tight with all pages intact. The pages are heavy textured paper, some staining, but in amazingly good condition, considering the age of this obviously much-used volume. Except for some long-hand division on the inside of the back board, the book is unmarked. The best feature of the text is its content--besides all sorts of mathematic information, problems and measurements, it also has instructions/examples of all sorts of things mathematical--eg. the correct way to design a graph, calculations for different forms of weight, motion. measures of all kinds and an entire section of the appropriate forms of notes, deeds, bonds, receipts and wills--all in the erudite, charming language of the age. This volume has a full red calf binding with gilt lettering and five raised bands on the spine. The end papers and page edges are beautifully marbled. Rubbing to several edges and the top of the spine. Some cracking and slight rubbing to the edges of the spine. Some page foxing. Steel engraving of Wordsworth by G.J. Stodart. Binding is tight. The owner's inscription in ink (John Remington Wilson) (1847-1904). Penciled note on page 281, along with a string marker. No other markings noted, but two fluffy feathers tipped in. A good, handsome copy.

Many black-and-white illustrations--photos, copies of paintings, maps--many intext, others full page. A Garland-related newspaper article dated 1/30/2001 tipped in. Dust jacket essentially pristine. A delightful addition to a collector's library or as a gift.

A Further Range awarded Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 1937.

Dark green embossed cloth-covered boards with legible gilt lettering on the spine. Cloth on spine is pulling away at the base. Binding is loose throughout. Pages clean, few pages worn at edges. Early library sticker inside front board: "This Book belongs to the Clinton Reform Club Library, and is not to be taken from the Club Room".

Copy signed by Masters on page before dedication. Ownership signature of Joyce Cheney Totman on first flyleaf. The spine is cracked and there is staining on pp 250-51 from NY Times Magazine review, dated Sept. 1963 (article in place). Pages are rough-edged and intact.

This beautiful memoir has a 3/4 binding with marbled dark blue boards and gilt edges. Inside of both boards and flyleaves also beautifully marbled. It is a first edition with a tissue-guarded frontispiece. Minimal scuffing along the sides of the spine, edges and corners. Pages tight and clean. Illustrations by author's brother Charles Huard, who was the official painter to the Sixth Army in France--12 illustrations and a full-page pen-and-ink sketch of a French soldier opposite the frontispiece. Bookplate inside the front cover reads "Edmund Lincoln Baylies" (1857-1932), who was a NY lawyer and member of NY high society during the Gilded Age. A very good copy and fine addition to any library.
