Toronto: The Ryerson Press, 1924. Blue morocco over boards, worn and rubbed at edges; very minor intermittent spotting. Ownership inscription on flyleaf. The present work is a compilation of Drummond's best poems including The Habitant, Johnnie Courteau, The Voyageur, and the Great Fight, all written in the French-Canadian vernacular dialect which Drummond observed while working in Borde à Plouffe. Included is a memorial by S. Weir Mitchell.

Yellow publisher's cloth, in original dust-jacket, light browning and small tears to edges of dust-jacket, else a fine copy. First edition. "This is a wryly illustrated collection of wrier fables. And all this wryness has been carefully combined to point out the foibles of the medical profession today." Titles include The llama who was a genius, How the jackals got ethics and The turkeys and the socialized sick. Wassersug (b.1912) received his M.D. at Tufts and practiced internal medicine. A prolific writer on health and medicine, he was the author of several humourous medical works, as well as of the syndicated New York Herald Tribune column "You're the Doctor." Kenneth Mahood (b.1930), a Belfast born artist, was primarily known for his work in The New Yorker and Punch.

Philadelphia: [np], 1882. Disbound. Later edition of this poem, which was reprinted from the March and April, 1882 issues of College and Clinical Records of Jefferson. Meigs (1829-79), a graduate of Jefferson Medical College, and later there Professor of the Institutes of Medicine and Medical Jurisprudence, specialized in craniography, writing several works on the subject.

Most were previously published in various reviews and journals. Titles include Hora mortis nostrae; The "revival" of phrenology; and Latin for girls.

Contains Perloff's essay, The man who loved women: The medical fictions of William Carlos Williams. Established in 1947, The Georgia Review quickly came to be known as one of America's premiere journals of art and letters. It has featured the works of Nobel laureates, Pulitzer prize winners as well as the work of previously unpublished writers and poets. This issue features works by Joyce Carol Oates, Eudora Welty, Robert Penn Warren, and many others. Perloff is currently a professor at Stanford University, and soon to be president of the Modern Language Association.

[London]: Printed for the subscribers, 1911. With frontispiece portrait of Warner, 2 full-page colored plates and 41 additional plates. Morocco-backed cloth, spine very worn (most of the morocco is gone and a significant piece of the head of the spine is also missing); interior quite clean, though 2 leaves are loose (probably needs re-sewing). This fine work was privately printed on the retirement of Warner as Keeper of Manuscripts at the British Museum. MS 24089 was apparently one of Warner's favorites.

Smirnow (1874-1948) was a Yale physician who was active in the anarchist movement as a young doctor.

First edition of this collection of poems. "As a physician I was with the sick and dying daily - and have never become hardened to seeing human suffering. And when the child, the teenager, and all the others who suffer disability or death before their proper time, turned to me to help them, when the powers of medical science failed, I wept with them. And I still do in my poems."Miller (1907-71), a scientific researcher and teacher of medicine, studied chemical engineering at MIT, and medicine at Harvard. Giese was Emeritus professor of Romance Languages at the University of Wisconsin.This work is number 31 from the University of Wisconsin Studies Language and Literature series, which was a quarterly publication of the University of Wisconsin treating various literary and language related topics. Charles Augustin Sainte-Beuve (1804-69) was the foremost French literary critic of the nineteenth century, who abandoned his medical studies for literature. The present work studies not only the various roles that Sainte-Beuve played in his life, such as The Scholar, The Poet, The Novelist, The Moralist, and The Historian, but also his work and his contemporaries.

Former physicians treated include Sir Thomas Browne, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Silas Weir Mitchell. Moynihan (1865-1936) was a British surgeon and professor of medicine who was an authority on abdominal surgery. Major (1884-1970), a professor of pathology at the University of Kansas, was a true Renaissance man: physician, historian, author, educator, polyglot, amateur musician and enthusiastic bibliophile.
