Becker was the posthumous winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for General Nonfiction, the book is an intriguing examination of humankind's awareness of one's eventual death and how sublimating this awareness has affected human behavior throughout history.

Overall a very attractive copy of Vidal's satire about gender assignment and sexual identity, certainly ahead of his time in 1968.
