GB: T. Parkhurst Etc, 1696. Full old leather with raised bands and burgundy title label. Some erratic page numbering but apears to be complete. A few leaves have very slight text loss. GB: R T Birchall - Preston 326 x 255 mm. Old half dark green leather and marbled boards. Spines heavily decorated in gold and (all) lettered "HAYDN - BOOK C". Leather title labels on front covers. All with the large armorial bookplate of Frederick A Heygate Lambert (with small Garratts Hall Library case label). PAGINATION ERRATIC THROUGHOUT but appear to be complete as issued. Salomon is in 7 sets of 16 pages whilst Hague is about 48 pages. All fairly clean, tight and sound BUT some offsetting throughout and some occasional damp and other marks. A good working set but perhaps not for the collector.. Hardback. Good.

GB: Chapman & Hall, 1868. 182 x 116 mm. Burgundy cloth spine is simply lettered UNCLE SILAS -- J.S. FANU with small device below. Plain green cloth covers. Chalky brown paper endpapers have adverts. The name and date written verso endpaper "S. Billing 20, 7, 70. 462 pages. Printer code 28-11-68 base of last page. Book is in very good minus condition with minor but noticeable signs of wear and/or age. About 5mm missing from top of spine (not affecting lettering). . 3rd Edition. Hardback. VG-/No DW.

A MIXTURE OF ORIGINAL AND FASCIMILE VOLUMES but bound in matching burgundy strong cloth with black leatherette title labels. Showing some shelf wear and spotting but a superb STRONGLY BOUND set. Ten volumes 2 3 10-12 and 15-19 are facsimile editions. The remaining 13 volumes date from 1888 to 1950 and appear to be first editions. . Hardback. nrFine/No DW.

(In Vol 1 the plate of London called for at p881 appears to be the one inserted at p505). In Vol 2 the Map of the country round London IS MISSING. Old half leather and marbled boards. Marbled text edges. Much surface loss to covers. Upper covers holding well just by strings. Fairly clean tight text. Some plates in vol 2 bit stained in margin. Other minor faults. GB: British Museum, 1949. This set consists of 21 main volumes and 4 supplementary (each with two parts). Bound in strong red (1-10) or maroon/burgundy (rest) and lettered in gold with the gold armorial of the Royal Society of Edinburgh at top of spines. Light library stamps to prelims but no other marks. The set look largely unopened but a few volumes have some shelf wear and some early volumes have some bleach spotting to covers or spines (6 front cover, 7 front cover, 8 spine and front cover). It has a pencil owners inscription dated 1901. Both books are very clean and tight but are quite heavily cocked (spines pushed out of shape). Endpapers/pastedowns have some spotting. GB: Jenkins, 1914. Red pictorial cloth. An exceptionally bright book marred by minor edge and endpaper spotting. The offwhite DW features a line drawing of two men walking twoards clouds (or similar). DW is quite bright but with some chipping to extremities and closed tears to top of spine but has no loss to any lettering or image. It is not priced nor is it price clipped. . 1st Edition. GB: Huth Library: Alexander B. Grosart, 1881. Published between 1881 and 1886. One of 50 sets. Pale grey paper covered boards with vellum-like spines. Spines have raised bands and are lettered in black on paper labels. Each spine has a small circular shelf label or white mark (when label lost). Very clean tight texts are slightly waved. Endpapers bit browned. Torquay Natural History Society label on front pastedowns showing books to have been given to them by George Henry White. Their light library stamp on title page.
