" Underneath his signature is the signature of his wife and their address as follows:" Mrs. N. P. Langford/291 South Exchange St. /St. Paul/Minnesota." In addition it is signed by seven other presumed prominent persons of the day with their addresses; three inside the front cover and four on the ffep. 122 pages. A heavy book for its size which attests to the high quality of the paper. Nathaniel P. Langford was the first superintendent of Yellowstone National Park and was a participant of the Washburn expedition among other accomplishments. Underneath the author's signature is that of his wife together with an address in St. Paul, Minnesota. In addition the book is signed by seven other important individuals of the day and time with their addresses and cities. Langford was a key participant in the Washburn expedition and the first Yellowstone Park superintendent. A one of kind affinity Yellowstone Park volume. The work has been restored by an experienced professional bookbinder and should last more than another 100 years.

There is an extensive and lengthy introduction by the author of 31 pages, numbered with roman numerals. At the conclusion of the introduction the diary starts and consists of some 122 pages followed by an appendix and some original sketches of outstanding features in the park. St. Paul, Minnesota: The Pioneer Press, 1880. Hardcover. Very Good Plus/None. 138 pages. Fold out map of the Northern Pacific Railroad and Connections is just in front of the title page. A touch of discoloration at the bottom of the map and at the outer edge of the title page that the map does not extend to. The map has no tears, no folds other than the four required to get it back into the book. The map has no markings. Contents indicate 12 chapters. Book is free of underlining or any marking with the exception of 34/118 inside the front cover in pencil. Maybe, it can be erased but I would rather a professional try, I am chicken. The covers of the book around the spine are red and show little wear, the rest of the covers are brown with the front cover having a historical pastedown showing a Street in Miles City. The back cover has a small black area that seems to add to the ambiance of the book and does not seem to detract and I was advised to leave it alone. Glendale, California: Arthur H. Clark Company. 1st Editions, 1st Printings . Hardcover. Very Good/None. Deckle edge paper with top edges stained brown, approximately 400 pages each volume. Includes the index and extensive bibliography, in volume ten, which is the volume with the least printing. (Only 1509 copies) These volumes were published between 1965 and 1972. This series was Dr. Hafen's final major work in the field of western American history. Together with noted scholars, he compiled biographies of the major figures in the fur trade of the Far West. Roughly, 300 biographies are included in the set. Fold-out map in Volume 1 is in fine shape. All ten volumes are protected with archival quality Brodart covers, the original brown paper jackets are not present. Stains from these original jackets are not present in these volumes. A nice set.

Norwalk, Connecticut: Easton Press, 2004. Hardcover. New. Book is still in original shrinkwrap that it came in from my purchase from Easton Press. My understanding is that the work is signed by both Trump and his co-author. Signed edition is stated on the spine. Certificate of Authenticity is included as well. The book cover is premium leather with silk moire endleaves and a hubbed spine accented in real 22 kt gold with a satin ribbon page marker. The work has gilded page edges, long lasting high quality acid neutral paper with smyth-sewn pages for strength and durability. It is my understanding that the book is produced in a manner to last 300 years or more. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box.

Inside the front cover is some tanning where maybe a newspaper article was placed for many years. 78 pages. Brown covers with sharp gold lettering on front cover. Book itself is now housed in an archival quality cover. A one of a kind Yellowstone affinity book. Would easily grade near fine plus except for aforementioned tanning. A nice copy of a truly scare book.

The Collector's Edition of Benteen's Scout-to-the-Left has been specially bound in leather in a limited edition of 25 copies of which this is #14 signed by the author Roger Darling; not personalized to anyone. The work includes a one page keepsake which makes about three corrections in the work. The volume includes the publisher's introduction to The Custer Trails Series, a preface by the author and a fold-out map( after page xvi) that is in new condition. The work was acquired by this bookseller many years ago from the publisher and has been in his personal library for more than two decades. Volume has red leather covers with sharp gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. Book itself has been protected by a clear archival quality cover. This quite scarce work is available for immediate shipment, carefully packed and mailed in a sturdy box.

It is signed by the three bibliographiers Doug Erickson, Jeremy Skinner and Paul Merchant ; not personalized to anyone. Included with the book is an original four paragraph letter on Lewis and Clark College stationary dated 21 June 2003 signed by Stephen Dow Beckham stating some of his experiences and challenges in writing the essays in this seminal work of the bicentennial. 315 pages. Volume is housed in a black slipcase with gold lettering on the front cover of the slipcase which is also in new condition. Work itself was issued without a dust jacket but has a clear protection archival quality cover over the book inside the slipcase. Clearly a comprehensive and monument work for the centuries.

Tibbets flew the Enola Gay into the future by dropping the world's first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. This is his story. A highly collectible copy in near pristine condition. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Mid Coast Marketing that the volume is hand signed by Paul Tibbets and the aforementioned three crew members of the Enola Gay. 339 pages. Tibbets was solely responsible for the organization, training, and command of the world's first nuclear strike force. On the morning of August 6, 1945, Tibbets flew the Enola Gay into the future by dropping the world's first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. This is his story. A keepsake for the centuries.

New York: McGraw Hill Book Company, 1964. Deluxe Copy Number 982 . Hardcover. New/None. This copy was purchased directly from the MacArthur Memorial Foundation by this bookseller many decades ago. It is housed in the original slipcase and the slipcase is housed in the original book box with the number of the copy on it. It is truly a mint copy, having never been used nor read. It is my understanding that General MacArthur himself was to have signed these 1000 copies, but passed away before that was possible, therefore, they were signed by his wife, Jean MacArthur, and a facsimile signature of General Douglas MacArthur is printed above her signature. The general states in the preface that in the preparation of this record the import of the subject matter is his only claim to attention. The comments are his own and show how he saw the matters treated, whether others saw them in the same light or not. A very nice, mint, copy, available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box.

Lawson/Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings". This is a first edition, but it is not the first printing. I know that because on page 184 the big bull alligator was said to be twenty feet. In the first printing of 2945 copies the alligator was said to be thirty feet. In all subsequent printings it was changed to twenty feet. This is an apparent third printing. This is not a book of the month club edition. The second printing was 44,000 copies (BOMC) while the third printing was 10,600 copies. This is the author's first novel which was an instantaneous critical and popular success. This volume has been professionally repaired by reinforcing the inside of the front and back covers and reinforcing the spine at the top and bottom with buckram. Bloomington, Illinois: Charles R. Brodix, 1880. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/None. This volume was sold only by subscription and is the scarce 1st edition. Handsomely illustrated with engravings and maps. 528 pages. Volume itself is protected in a clear Brodart cover. The front cover is the original brown cloth front cover with pictoral scenes of the great west in black and gilt that are very sharp and show little wear. The spine has been professionally repaired and shows minimal loss/chipping of decorative cloth overlay at the base and at top (of the overlay, not the spine itself) with the title The Great West being very sharp. The book is tight. Some age toning on the pages. No apparent chipping on the edges but shows a touch of wear. At the bottom of the pages at the start of the work (from approximately page 21 to 50) there is a small fold at the bottom outer edge the largest of which measured diagionally is about 1" . I have attempted to straightened these out but am not totally satisfied.… Leer más
