London: John Murray, 1914. First Edition, 1914 - Rare. One Quarter Leather Spine. Very good - a few small scrapes to the spine. Drawings by Alfred Parsons added in the proper places and the covers bound in the back 1910-1911. The color illustrations are chromolithographs.

Complete in three volumes, serially issued, (and apparently out of sequence). Folio (14.5 inches tall). Rebound in full calf bindings. Minor stains and fading to bindings, scattered scuffing at edges of bands. Some paper repairs. Edges of end papers toned. Extensive family records penned inside Vol. 1. Records of awarding Freedom of the City to (apparently) a guild member. Text block clean and bright. Unmarked. Wide clean margins. Over 100 engraved plates and maps interspersed throughout. A very good copy of a beautifully produced 18th century family Bible. Containing the Old and New Testaments at Large: and the Apocrypha. Black alligator hide binding stamped in silver. 312 numbered pages plus 4 leaves at back with illustrations and one full color illustrated page, "Roland and the Dark Tower", to conclude a beautiful production which contains 13 full page, full color illustrations in all and numerous other decorated pages and spot illustrations in black and white. Lovely gold decorated spine with gold tooled raised bands and six tooled panels. Gold tooled dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gold. Very good condition.. Engraved bookplate with crest and name of Arthur Holdsworth, Esq. of Dartmouth, Devon. Another small black leather book plate engraved in gold with a crest and name of Hugo J. Lion. Fore-edge painting of city scene.

Some finger smudges along fore-edge of title page. Overall beautiful clean, white pages. Binding is tight.. London: S. Palmer, 1728. First Edition. 4to. (50), 407, (1) pp. 12 folding engraved plates. Headpieces, tailpieces, initials by Pine and Grison. Full Polished Calf - rebacked in the style of the period, marbled endpapers and marbled edges, hinges reinforced. Label affixed on front cover from Cookseys, Auctioneers, Lot 729, Wakehurst Place Sale, July 1890. A very good copy with no foxing or internal blemishes. Abraded area, 1" in diameter, at bottom of back cover. Corners rubbed.. On front pastedown is the coat of arms bookplate of Edgar March Crookshank (10/2/1858 - 7/1/1928) prominent English physician and microbiologist. Henry Pemberton (1694-1771) brought Newton's philosophy to the layman. He was invited by Newton to edit the third (1726) edition of the Principia. The preface includes recollections of Newton in his old age.
