United Kingdom: Taylor & Francis. Very Good+ in Fair dust jacket. 1975. Hardcover. A very good three volume set in a fair slipcase. The books are in clean blue cloth covered boards which are lightly bumped to the spine ends/corners. Internally all three are without writing or stamps, toned pages, toned to the edges. Each book is covered in its original glassine jacket, all of which are in fair condition, only being creased to the edges with losses and closed tears. The slipcase is in only fair condition, being heavily bio depredated to the sides with small separations at the front corners and a water stain. Book is in clean buff cloth boards, with embossed hanging tile design to front board. There are very small areas of very light foxing to front board and fore-edge. Internally, tiny area of gum residue to front endpaper, and some light foxing to prelims. Pages and plates are otherwise clean and bright throughout. The unclipped dustjacket is lightly bumped to spine ends, with a little chipping to spine heel, and a 5mm closed tear to lower rear corner. Internally, a little light foxing. A good 1910 1st Edition hardcover without dustwrapper in original blue cloth-covered boards which are rubbed to all edges/spine ends/corners, the spine edges are rubbed with small separations, two small dings in the boards with the one on the bottom front board resulting in some small damage, internally very good with "Donald o Ross inked on the front endpaper with a bookplate on the front pastedown, toned occasionally foxed pages, top edge gilt. Undated (early 20th Century) 4th edition hardcover (stated), without dustjacket, in decorative stamped boards with bright gilt lettering to front board which is rubbed to the top and bottom edge, rubbed and bumped to the corners. Decorative spine with bright gilt lettering is bumped and rubbed ends with some damage to each, and one torn page. About 2/3 of the decorative pre-printed pages have been filled with 295 carefully cut crests and monograms, of which 165 are military - mainly of British and Indian Army regiments - some of which are from Lincoln's pre-printed sheets, but many taken directly from correspondence. There are also 11 complete cards with military crests which have been pasted on blank facing pages. Although the book has no previous ownership writing, the space reserved for the personal monogram of the owner has been filled with a neatly cut example of the Scottish Mitchell family crest.
