Set in a provincial French city of the 1950s this is a coming of age story which follows the experiences of one teenage boy. It is also a portrait of one family which is complex, comic and touching.

After beginning a tempestuous affair, Stephen tells Anna that he is willing to sacrifice his family and his cabinet position to be with her, something which Anna has no intention of allowing. The 1984 film starred Donald Sutherland, Jack Warden, and Sean Penn. It is a remake of a 1958 Italian film, I soliti ignoti, directed by Mario Monicelli with Marcello Mastroianni in a lead role. Bound with three brass brads; fine in printed covers. Green text pages throughout.

Lacombe, Lucien: 1974, 138 minutes, starring Pierre Blaise, Aurore Clément, Holger Löwenadler. Au revoir les enfants: 1987, 101 minutes, starring Gaspard Manesse, Raphaël Fejtö. The three films are superb and much could be said about each of them. Vintage Program for the international release of the 1963 film, here under the alternate title "The Will-O-The-Whisp," a perhaps more literal translation of the original French title "Le feu follet." The film would be released as "The Fire Within" in the US and "A Time to Live and a Time to Die" in the UK. Based on the 1963 novel, "Le feu follet suivi de adieu a Gonzague" by Pierre Drieu La Rochelle. An ambitious Malle project, using only solo piano music by Erik Satie for its score, about an increasingly isolated man quietly fighting the urge to take his own life. 8 x 10.5 inches, Self-wrappers, perfect-bound, 17 pages, on medium white stock with an untitled, solid green spine; in original printed envelope (slightly larger), single flap, with the French title ("Le feu follet") printed in green in large letters at the lower margin of the front panel. Bridgette Bardot stars in this semi-biographical film by Louie Malle about a young girl, Jill, who suddenly becomes a movie star and tries to manage the pressures and annoyances of celebrity. She returns home to Switzerland to escape from the paparazzi and seeks refuge in the arms of newly divorced Fabio (Marcello Mastroianni). Paris: Nouvelles Editions de Films [NEF], 1958. Collection of twelve vintage black-and-white still photographs from the 1958 French film. The great French director's second film, about a wealthy woman who has become bored with both her emotionally distant husband and her lover, and abruptly leaves them both to take up with a younger man she just met. After it was released in the US, the film became the subject of a landmark First Amendment case before the Supreme Court, where Justice Potter Stewart, in declaring the film not obscene, issued the immortal phrase "I know it when I see it" in regards to what constitutes pornographic material. A story set and shot on location in France, including Paris, Dijon, Burgundy, and the Cote-d'Or. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine or better, with light toning to a few of the photographs.
