Dustjacket has a faded spine (which is almost always the case), a price-clipped flap, and rubbed edges. Otherwise intact. A historical fiction novel in which Christopher Columbus travels to seek sponsorship from Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, while eluding spies seeking to steal the map of his proposed route to the East. Meanwhile, he finds romance with a gypsy girl.

Set at the time of the discovery of the New World, this chronicles the fictional romance of Christopher Columbus with the mysterious Spanish lady Beatriz Enriquez. Unknown to Columbus, Beatriz is a spy sent by the Venetian Doge to steal the map master cartographer Toscanelli gave to Columbus that shows the way to the New World. One of Sabatini's final novels, set against a lush historical backdrop familiar to many readers.

One of prolific screenwriter Rafael Sabatini's final projects. A romanticized, swashbuckling account of the adventures and loves of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus, here re-imagined as the Spanish "Cristobal Colon" from Castile. Delays in the production of the film led Sabatini to turn his early screenplay into a novel, first published by Hutchinson in 1941. Although interest was again raised in a Columbus film in the late 1940s-leading to the British "Christopher Columbus" (1949) starring Fredric March-Sabatini's script was ultimately rewritten for the film. Set in Spain. Red titled wrappers, with credits for screenwriter Rafael Sabatini. Title page integral with the front wrapper, as issued. 259 leaves, with last page of text numbered 256.
