Please see Dorothy Veinus Hagan's Felician David, 1810-1876. A Composer and a Cause, 1985. This book of music is not listed in Rosenbach's American Jewish Bibliography or Sabin. As this work was performed in Boston in March, 1849, and copyright in Boston in 1849, it would appear to take precedence over the New York printing. .

Johnson states: "The unusual, and almost unprecedented poplularity to which floral concerts have attained, is sufficient apology for the appearance of a book designed for them and for juvenile classes in general... The poetry, mostly original with the writer, has been carefully prepared, both with respect to morality and euphony...". The third "oratorio" is devoted to "The Children of Jerusalem," The author states: "A number of the youth of the Holy City, are supposed to pass out of a gate... and assemble among the flower gardens and vineyards at the entrance of the valley of Jehoshaphat. Here, with cheerful songs, they rehearse, as was doubtless the custom among the ancient Jews, the wonders performed in the days of their fathers, and tell of the Star of Bethlehem, and the story of the Man of Sorrows...… Leer más
