Light stain at base of a few pages. Otherwise internally clean and free of stray markings, save for age-toning to the pages. Overall a very good copy.

This  is a original lithograph with hand applied color (pochoir) from the Gazette du Bon Ton,  1920, plate 29.  It is by Andre Edouard Marty.A beautiful lithograph in Excellent shape with light age toning along the edges. (pochoir)Andre Edouard Marty (1882-1974) was a French artist and fashion designer.  Marty studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Atelier Fernand Cormon in Montmartre, Paris.  He had his illustrations published in the Gazette du Bon Ton as well as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair and  House and Garden, among many others.  Marty also illustrated books and designed advertisements and theatre poster.La Gazette du Bon Ton was a leading fashion magazine, published in France from November 1912 to 1925 with a hiatus taken during the war years. A few bookseller penciled notes to inside front board with C. Middleton penciled to half title as well as title page. Some pages lightly age-toned with many pages still uncut.

Quarter leather with decorated boards. xi+155pp. VG+ condition in a VG slipcase  Slipcase is bumped and a little grimy but still rigid and protective.  The volume has an owner name neatly penned to ffep, and a handful of dust spots to top page edge.  Otherwise a beautiful copy. This edition is illustrated with striking water-colors by Pierre Brissaud of Paris.   (cfm)

The red boards are faded and soiled with mottling to outer edges, fading to spine and chipping to the spine label,  as well as soiling to the page edges.  Internally, the end-pages are lightly age-toned but no previous owners marks or signatures. Aside from an occasional smudge scattered throughout, the pages  are clean and bright.  The binding is tight and hinges intact.  Overall, a very good copy.

Spine strip quite worn, with chips and tears at ends and several small tears along edges. Label is quite soiled, but still visible. Internally end-pages are soiled and age toned with mild foxing scattered throughout. A very light previous owners name is penciled to top edge of title page, as well as drawings to inside front board of two ships. One is labeled "Eng Baroqe Edwd Robinson Sunday 13th Decr. 1840. Bay of Bengal Lat 17.1 Lon 91.10" very lightly in pencil. A few pages have small chips and tears to edges. The binding is tight. (Sabin 14)
