Panton (1870–1955) was the pastor of Surrey Chapel, Norwich, Norfolk, UK. He was the editor (1924–1955) of The Dawn Magazine, the author of several books and tracts, and a British leader amongst those pursuing Prophetic studies. Panton founded and edited a new bi-monthly magazine, The Dawn, an Evangelical Magazine, which first appeared on 15 April 1924. Panton’s aim for his magazine was the stimulus, encouragement, and instruction of Christians who believed without reservation in all the Scriptures, and who sought to devote their lives to the highest ends before the return of Christ and the Kingdom. Passmore was a "penitentiary" at Ives' short-lived monastic community (Brotherhood of the Holy Cross) at Valle Crucis.

An interesting Congregationalist periodical in counterpoint to the established "ritualist" Church of England, containing discussions of temperance (26) and "women's" work (236-237), missionary activities in China (27), a Puritan Sabbath (45), DL Moody and Charles Spurgeon (55), prison conditions (187), the state of the church in the Americas (185, 222-23), and other contemporary accounts.
