Sandburg's 6 Volume Set is a masterpiece in writing and early American history. The description within the Prairie Years (2 volumes) are my favorite of the 6 volumes. The last 4 volumes deal with the War Years and are most informative. Learning how the character Lincoln evolved over the years gives great insight into his life and motivations. Without a doubt, one of the best series of historical books I have read. Most enjoyable and instructive. I am humbled by his character and dedication to the people of the United States.

He headed the Indian service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and was a literary editor for the Tribune, a left-wing socialist paper aligning with his political values. Orwell gained popularity as an author after Animal Farm was first published in England in August of 1945.
