Descripción:
This is the second edition of Oliver Goldsmith's abrigement of the History of England. It was originally published in 1771 in 4 volumes but here in 1777 it was abridged to be more accessible for students and small libraries. Oliver Goldsmith is cheifly known for his magnum opus "The Vicar of Wakefield" but he was also an erudite historian writing on the history of Rome, Greece and 'a history of earth and animated nature'. Good Condition. Brown leather covered boards with gilt design to spine. Binding is firm. Pages are lightly tanned and foxed with minor faded to occasional pages. Front hinge is cracked casuing front board and front free end paper to be moderately loose. Overall boards are sound with minor edge-wear except for some light bumping to corners. Notable loss to spine head. Some spliting to front board and spine head joint.
