Report on the first modern excavations at the large rock shelter of La Colombiere, near Poncin, Ain, some 30 miles southwest of Geneva. Representative of the Magdalenian culture (12,000 to 17,000 years ago), the site yielded flint tools, the fossil remains of various mammals, and period engravings. The most significant of these was a large fragment of mammoth bone on which are engraved human figures - believed to be the first prehistoric anthropomorphic representations ever discovered. Octavo: 205 p. with 102 figures and 25 double-page plates. In a period one-quarter brown morocco over marbled paper binding, with gilt stamping, five raised bands, marbled endpapers, and a ribbon marker. The spine is a touch sun faded; else very good or better.

He then made it to the Feather River on September 9 with $4 in his pocket. While providing what has become one of the great classics of the Overland Trail, Delano also wrote in detail about his adventures in the mines and the general conditions of newly arrived emigrants, miners, and Indians. From the personal collection of Fenriz, one half of the revered Norwegian black metal duo Darkthrone, accompanied by his extensive album-specific DJ notes, handwritten on the verso of a slip printed by the Norwegian post office. In a September 29, 2011 interview with Last Rites, Fenriz reflected on the tendency towards a more commercial sound in the late 1980s: "the near death of DEATH metal, luckily saved by Autopsy and other organic heads." Acts of the Unspeakable is the third album by California death metal band Autopsy, who are credited with pioneering death-doom. Previously, drummer and vocalist Chris Reifert was a member of Death, performing on their debut album, Scream Bloody Gore (1987).
