Last regular issue (and next to last issue overall) of Berrigan's quintessential NY mimeo, a cornerstone of the movement.Other contributors include Brainard, Max Jacob, Ron Padgett, etc. A magazine that over the last few years has grown increasingly scarce. [Reading, PA]: np, 1875. First Edition. Good.. An eccentric piece of 19th-century scholarly humor, the more remarkable for being the product of a small, provincial American city. The author, using the pseudonym of "Beaumont & Fletcher," purports to present a scholarly translation of a medieval Latin MS by one "Albigraecus Cacatus Pedo" (which loosely translates as "Dog Turd - Shit Foot") on the many shapes, varieties, and life-histories of the "Cactus Humanus," the author's euphemism for the singular unit of human excretion, or, if one prefers...the turd. Using the language and format of nineteenth-century scholarly botanical treatises (with which he is clearly familiar), the author delineates the taxonomy of various "Cactus" species, including sub-species and local variations. Throughout, the text is peppered with multilingual puns (Horace: "..."Exegi monumentum aere perennius"); broad double-entendres ("Full many a flower is born to blush unseen, and waste its sweetness on the desert air"); and… Leer más

Publisher's printed wraps. Wraps mildly toned with a faint touch of foxing at front. Interior clean and bright. Very good. 73pp.

np: np, 1959. Very good.. An outstanding example of (presumably) amateur political protest art, depicting the House Un-American Activities Committee as a rabid King Kong on the verge of seizing the helpless damsel Civil Liberties. 1959 was the Committee's 21st year of existence, and it had by then become quite commonplace to condemn the HUAC's extremism, so much so that President Truman, in April of that year, called the committee "the most un-American thing in the country today." Still, it would take sixteen more years for HUAC to be officially abolished. We've been unable to trace the artist, but he (again, we presume) was clearly skilled, striking just the right balance between cartoon and editorial styles. A vivid piece of vernacular propaganda from the early days of the HUAC's decline. Light-brown paper hand-drawn in felt-tip marker; 24" by 18" approx. Evidence of having been hung up at corners: small pieces of tape at upper edge; two chips at bottom; plus 2" tear at center of bottom edge.… Leer más

Inscribed first edition of this work of text and drawings "dedicated to all humans in cages," drawing inspiration from Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Ho Chi Minh. With a nice association between Greene and the Mikolowskis, stalwarts of Michigan's publishing community. Wraps. Oblong 32mo (5.5" by 4" approx.). Very good plus.
