USA: George Allen and Unwin, 1976. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Allen & Unwin 1976 first printing of the deluxe version. This book has more wear than my other more expensive copy. Book has been read a couple of times, biding still tight, rubbing to the cover edges, cover gilt is fine, the spine gilt however is worn. Yellowing to page edges, but not on pages. Slipcase has a clean unfaded label with red title evident. A more affordable copy of this now very rare book.

Book is very good, red once, but has some old mould damage to the covers, slight roughness in place, but these can only be seen at an angle. Slipcase has minor darkening to label white and covers, sound overall. Still above average. Please see my 1979 Lord of the Rings Deluxe and make a set!

The cover has only minor wear, scuffing to spine edges, but no fading or scratching as usually found. Except for the age realted wear, read once condition which is rare for a paperback.

Unrestored book and jacket, as good as the come for this now are super rare book. Book read once condition, a few light foxing spots in places. Jacket has a small paper loss to top right spine corner and several closed tears. Bright with no foxing. Outstanding condition. Invest today! About restoration. When no more first edition Hobbits with original dust jackets exist, ever, the restored jacket with the minimal restoration might become an option. However, it will only be worth what the original damaged jacket was worth. Restoration adds no value and trying to boost its value falsely with restoration to the same as an original is a complete deception.
