A trilogy, illustrated with wood-engravings by Julie Neild. This volume has all three books: "Lark Rise", "Over to Candleford" and "Candleford Green". An Introduction by H. J. Massingham. The paper is somewhat yellowed, but the wood-engravings at the beginning of each chapter stand out well. The dust-jacket is somewhat browned and is price-clipped and has two or three short taped repairs. An attractive drawing from a wood-engraving by Julie Neild on the front of the jacket.

The language is simple and the theme lends itself to constant repetition. Much of the story is written in conversational form, and too much importance cannot be attached to the value of letting the children learn and act these little scenes built around such commonplace events as eating, shopping, travelling, ordering rooms, etc. Phrases thus learnt by heart will never be forgotten."

Another entertaining comic novel by English author P. G. Wodehouse, first published in the United Kingdom on 30 November 1923 by Herbert Jenkins, London. On par with his comical Jeeves titles.
