THIS IS A FORMER D.APPLETON CENTURY CO. EMPLOYEE LIBRARY COPY. Who is also the publisher, #3 ON THE LAST PAGE OF THE TEXT. I guess they could not get enough people to do the play at lunch? The book is tight and looks good, some touchup has been done but it is still fraying on the spine ends. Clean no markings except the library stamp, pocket inside front cover, that's it.

Grayish Blue hard cloth, gold lettering. Very minor rubbing to the extreme edges, bookshop stamp inside cover bottom, previous owners name 1st leaf. Drama by zoe akins, novel by edith wharton. (1) final page of text meaning 1st printing. Clean square and unread tightness. Excellent copy.

Church Ex-Library, under the brodart is a red label ANDREA BOOK, orange with black lettering, Dustjacket is taped down to the covers.

Both the hardcover and paperback release at the same time, this one is the stated 1st paperback, henry holt Owl Books, a book of essays. This author was a character as a writer in real life. I bought it to personally read when I get around to it, which will probably never.

The 2nd printing is the First Trade Edition after a signed limited printing. Greenish brown cloth with orange(title, stands out) and black lettering(fading on spine because of soiling). Soiled spine, wear to the spine ends, not to bad top more on bottom(there are small tears beginning to show) and minor tip wear. Previous owners name(and street # and name) in ink 1st leaf. A touch of foxing to the first/last pages and pastedowns. The bind is still holding tight, a nice copy to fill the gap till you can afford the $2000-5000 signed limited. Many photos of this book being offered at $250.

Red Cloth with Gold lettering, spine minor soiling and the last leaf has 2 stains. Unread tightness, very square clean. DJ has rubbing,wear to the edges, price intact, stain rear cover. The date inside is 1951 but dj mentions the Edge of Sadness came out 1961, so this is a reprint, not Book Club

Seafoam-colored vinyl with chipped spine ends displaying the underlayer, no bad but it is there. Gold lettering is very visible, inside covers soiled from cheap glue used on the pastedowns, otherwise no marks, etc.DJ: has edge toning, minor shelf wear except for a chip top spine, and some rubbing front cover, in Brodart now. part of his collection being gathered here, but still available as a single.

Has remainder mark bottom, signed with signature only main title page, Bruised corners, spine ends. Small puncture on DJ front spine area, and maybe a slit back DJ middle, not the book. Pulitzer Prize author signed. STATED first edition. 8 x 9 1/2 x 1/2.

OL' ADAM AND HIS CHILLUN: by Roark Bradford was the basis of the play Green Pastures,this is a June-1929 printing(code F-D) with its dustjacket(dj has rubbing to front taking out the M of Adam and N of Chillun,light soiling and price clipped,one more chip on the spine area takes out the N again,K in Roark and the RD of Bradford,a coupe more small tears,and minor chipping along the edges. Book has minor edgewear,previous owners name on the 1st leaf,very thigh and square,not ex-lib as so many others listed. Hard to find the DJ in any condition.
