Clark Salyer II, who served as chief of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Division of Wildlife Refuges from 1934 to 1961, and for whom the J. Clark Salyer National Wildlife Refuge in North Dakota is named. Dark blue morocco with marbled boards and gilt particulars to spine. Although 3rd edition, this contains revisions and improvements since first published. Contains 15 plates throughout, many of which are hand colored. Chapter subjects include, but are not limited to: Bottom-fishing, Mid-Water Fishing, Artificial Fly-Fishing, Artificial Flies, On Lake Fishing &c., Spinning for Trout, The Salmon, Salmon Flies, and Tackle Making and Fly Dressing. No previous owners' names or other markings. Pages bright and clean; except p. 122 has written in ink "Illegal," which is most likely referencing certain Thames fishing that was illegal to do since the book was published. Light wear to boards. xiv, 482 pp. 5 x 7 inches.

Professionally recased with full brown polished calf and debossed decorative dentelles as well as gilt rule; 5 raised bands and gilt particulars to spine. All edges gilt. Illustrated with many black and white hors texte plates and illustrations throughout text. Occasional spotting throughout, primarily to plates.
