Map condition: Centrefold a little brown with one or two spots, on the whole, fresh and bright. Skelton. County Atlases of the British Isles 1579-1703. p. 107 Map #24.
Shows the Island of Shows the Isle of Bute of the south western coast of Scotland in the Firth of Clyde. The island is divided into two by the Highland Boundary Fault.

7-1/2" x 9"-19 x 22.8 cm. Outline colour. Old tape marks to verso, a little brown o/w very good.

13-1/2" x 9-1/2". Steel engraved map with hand colouring in outline. Very good condition. A lovely steel engraved map of the Emerald isle with hand coloured vignettes of St. Patrick's Dublin, Round Tower, Wicklow, Ross Castle on the Lake of Killarney, the Holy Well and Limerick Castle. Published in Martin's "The Illustrated Atlas, And Modern History Of The World Geographical, Political, Commercial & Statistical", c. 1851.

Oblong 8vo. Third Edition (c. 1840's) . 42 hand-coloured in outline copper engraved map panels mounted on two linen sheets (Each panel 20" x 30"-50.8 x 76.2); "Northern Part" with inset of Scotland and "Southern Part." Both parts with red title pages. Northern Part with an engraved tipped-in image of Edinburgh Castle and Southern Part with an engraved tipped-in image of the Cathedral of St. Paul on the verso. Some wear and loss to leather with the spine split, otherwise a very good bright copy. A detailed and bright copy of England, Scotland and Wales showing mail routes, railroads, turnpikes and canals.

Hereford: : Jakeman & Carver, 1890. 20-1/2" x 18-3/4" -52 x 47.6 cm. Lithograph map with hand colouring dissected into 15 panels backed on linen and housed in folding cloth covers with original paper label. Very good. A detailed map of Herefordshire and surrounding environs. The map shows county divisions, Parliamentary divisions, towns, villages, green areas, exisitng and proposed railways.

Published in the London Magazine, [c.1764]. 6-1/2" x 8-1/2"- 16.5 x 21.5 cm. Copper engraved map hand coloured in outline. Fine. A detailed map showing Strathnavern, Edirisdacheul, Dornoch and part of Cathnesshire in North Eastern Scotland.

Jolly GENT-56 A good 18th century map of London showing the streets and buildings between Corn Hill, Lombard Street and Birchin Lane affected by the fire. Accompanied by a single leaf text legend naming tenants burnt out of their dwellings. The fire started in an Exchange Alley at a peruke (wig) maker’s shop on March 25, 1748 and quickly spread to surrounding buildings and streets. It devastated between 90-100 structures including coffee and ale houses, dwellings, and the house in which the poet Gray was born. Map, London, Road Map, City Map, Fire, London Magazine

An early map of Scotland by English cartographer William Hole and published by Christopher Saxton. Saxton produced the first printed map of England and his maps are highly prized for their accuracy and high quality. His maps "are excellent in every way.....and set a standard and remained the base for succeeding county maps for over a hundred years" (Tooley-"Maps and Map Makers"). Lovely compass rose as well as a sea monster off the Hebrides Island. Moir, p. 167; Shirley (BL Atlases) T.CAMD-1e.
