Author was lieutenant-commander U.S.N., and commander of the polar expedition of 1879-1881. Details the ill-fated voyage of the USS Jeannetee, an early expedition up the coast of Alaska and Siberia into the Artic Sea. Ultimately, the ice flows of the Artic Sea caused the ship to sink and the survivors to make their way to Siberia. De Long was killed in in the course of the expedition. Tight wth some light foxing.
