Title not known to me, but of a well-armed and well-constructed - though, happily, less sturdily clad - blond angel, complete with halo. Fine condition, 20" x 15", mixed media on Crescent heavyweight hot press surface illustration board. Signed bottom right, with date, lower left. See scans; the variable whites of the background are a scan/camera artifacts and are not, of course, present on the piece itself. Big. When framed and matted, this will dominate a room. Salwowski, Mark. 1999: Original cover painting by Mark Salwowski for the 1999 Orbit edition of Maureen McHugh's multiple-award-winning science fiction opus, "China Mountain Zhang". 72 x 48 cms, painted in ink on illustration board. Fine, pristine. With an intense and beautiful sci-fi mood, Salwowski's cover far exceeds those of several other editions of the famed novel. No Location, 2006. Soft cover. Fine. 8"x6. Burton, David W.. Original 8" x 6" painting, acrylic on canvas panel, by David Burton. Signed, dated '6 (2006), on the painting. Unframed. Fine. Something of a departure for Burton, a much-acclaimed, award winning artist who passed away on December 8th, 2011. Burton had done work for a wide variety of publishers in the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Comics fields. Cleo de Merode (Cleopatra Diane de Merode), 1873-1966, was a French ballerina born in Biarritz to parents of Austrian nobility, renowned for both her talent and her beauty. Beyond the acclaim she received for her performances, she achieved notoriety as well for the unique hair-do - depicted in this painting, which, at the age of thirteen, she chose to introduce at Paris' most prestigious ballet, the Choryhée, and for the famous romantic (and to Merode monumentally embarassing) obsession carried by the Belgian King Leopold II for her, which led to his being… Leer más

Publisher's description of this Tara McPherson piece as follows: "Electric Lola made her original debut in Brazil as the record cover for the singer Lola, and the original oil painting was exhibited in Italy at Dorothy Circus Gallery. She was also featured as a Print On Wood, and was Tara's very first spray paint mural at 1xRun's 'Murals in the Market' in Detroit. 1972. Soft cover. Fine. 1972: Signed, numbered print of the Fritz Eichenberg wood engraving alternately title "The Folly of Princely Court" or "Follies of the Court". See scan. Now matted and framed, the piece's outer frame dimensions are 24 3/4" x 18"; the exposed image area of 19 1/2" x 13" does not include the part of the original print which is currently under the matting. Print, frame, matting and glass all in Fine condition. Signed by Eichenberg in pencil at lower right of the visible image (see scan), with the number sequence of 42-116-103 (now under matting, but see scan of it), apparently in the same hand, further down and centered. Fritz Eichenberg, a German-American illustrator who was particularly prolific in the field of wood engravings such as this, often delved into quasi-Swiftian social satire as one of his preferred realms, and The Folly of Princely Court is one such example. Depicts a Union Pacific rail car trundling throught North Beach, with Coit Tower in the background. Nice retro feel, done at the time (1958) with accuracy. Unframed. 2000. Soft cover. Fine. Monteleone, John . circa 2000: Original painting art by internationally recognized artist John Monteleone, "Homage to Vargas". Medium: Oil on illustration board; Size approx 19x13 inches / 48x33 centimeters. Monteleone, an extremely widely-known and appreciated artist, here diverges from his more frequent subject fare to dabble in the pin-up realm. Though titled in homage to the fabled Alberto Vargas, this piece is in fact executed in Monteleone's own style, and he does indeed add something to the genre. I can almost taste this one, and it tastes like strawberry ice-cream, to me. Unsigned, but Monteleone has named the young lady being committed to the ages here: she is "Gicinni". You have to wonder where she is now. See scans. Unmatted and unframed, but, add those, then put this one front and center somewhere against a white - or black - wall. L305

Condition - fine, as created; there are artist-introduced light speckles on the bottom panel and a small area of artist's or publisher's white-out opn the top panel. Signed by Waller at the bottom in pencil. Annotations on reverse. Matted; image size itself is 13.5" x 9". 2) Dramatic splash page of a futuristic warrior holding a gun. Publication unknown to me (see scan). Signed "Karl" only in lower right corner, but that has been whited out. Not matted. Otherwise Fine, as created. 16" x 11".
