Copyright 1948-1951, 4-volume set. This set has 2-slipcases (as shown with this listing) which are in poor condition. The individual volumes are bound in blue cloth, blind stamping on front boards and stamped in gilt on the spines - the covers are rubbed, scuffed and lightly soiled. Edges are aged, some mottling to the printed endpapers. Sewn binding are firm. Each volume contains maps and black and white photographs. Volume One: 576pp including frontmatter. Volume Two: 472pp, including frontmatter and index. Volume Three: 646pp, including frontmatter and appendix. Volume Four: 746pp, including frontmatter, index and appendices. 1845 three quarter bound hard cover as pictured. An interesting history of the American Revolution. Binding is largely intact though several signatures are coming loose. Brown leather and marbled paper boards with gold stamping on spine are rubbed, scuffed and worn along edges. Hinges cracked, rear endpapers lost. Owner's names on front endpapers. Text is age tanned, mottled and water stained at lower corner and fore edge but remains very readable.
