[San Diego: Phenix Publishers, 1967].. First edition of this Paperback Original. "Psychedelic sin-trippers---Way Out and Wanton." Features one of the most terrifically ridiculous covers in the genre showing a partially uniformed, helmet-wearing, football player in his underwear launching himself across the room toward a scantily-clad hippie seductress. Owner's name and date to top of first page, spine leans, small tear to back cover at spine, very good (and priced accordingly). One of the scarcest hippie/drug exploitation titles. Not to be confused with Calvano's 1969 book Acid-Rock Orgy. No copies on OCLC and the first copy we've handled.

Amarillo, TX: Baxter Lane Co., 1969.. An anti-hippie flyer listing the requirements for membership in the Belligerent Student and Happy Hippie Society including: being "obligated to demonstrate conformity by: indulgin' in like free and prosmiscuous love; blowin' the 'mind' with drugs, spongin' meals off the squares; stealin'; demonstratin'; screaming 'Pigs!' and 'Police Brutality' and various obscenities with impunity..." Signed in print by purported Happy Hippie Society leaders "L. S. Dee" and "Ima Creep." Light creasing, the original owner placed their name in the spot intended for the member's signature, but nice overall (3.5" x 4.25."). Scarce item spoofing hippies.

[Burbank: Seven Seventy Publishers, 1966].. Hippie exploitation mag that explores the adventures of "The Daring Breed," members of the younger generation who are "trapped, desperate, frantic to escape their everyday life. Frantic for new excitement, pleasures." These folks occupy their time with eveything from biker gangs, "Swingin' Wild Groups," draft card burning, pagan LSD rituals, building anti-war sculptures on Sunset Blvd., and of course dancing naked, with many photos of the latter. One of the earliest, if not the first, hippie explotation mags preceding the heyday of the genre by a couple of years. Two tiny ink letters to cover, else near fine.

Berkeley: Wingbow press, [1974].. Small 4to. Softbound. First edition. Photos and text document the hippie subculture with lots of nudity on beaches and in communes. White covers very slightly toned, else near fine.

NY: Bantam, [1970].. First edition of this Paperback Original. A profile of the Baby Boomers and the "generation gap." Reprints articles and interviews culled from various sources profusely illustrated with photographs and unusual graphics. Inconspicuous owner's name inside front cover, else very good plus to near fine.

Exploitation novel about gay hippies in Greenwich Village: "He was going to feature them in a flesh happening---an exhibition of the most depraved sort. The Village beatniks counted on Pierre's cruel imagination because he had yet to have a---FLESH FAILURE!" Small, light stain to cover, faint crease to spine, very good. Scarce.

San Diego: Greenleaf, [1967].. First edition of this Paperback Original. "Fags, freaks and the famous turn the street into a hippie hell." An "expose" of the famed Sunset Strip during the height of the '60s, published shortly after the famous riots there. Fine.

No place: American International Records, 1970.. LP record. Soundtrack for the American International hippie musical exploitation film directed by Roger Corman starring Robert Corff (of "Hair" fame) and Bud Cort. A group of hippies from various backgrounds "inherit" the nation after a mysterious gas attack exterminates everyone over twenty-five. Interestingly, the record was produced by Country Joe and the Fish member, Barry Melton who also wrote some of the songs. Mint record in very good plus jacket.

No place: Guild Press, 1967.. Pamphlet. First edition. Oblong 16mo. Psychedelic Day-Glo lettering on front and back covers. Features surreal/psychedelic b&w photo-collages utilizing various naked bodies or portions thereof interspersed with uninhibited Gay-and-drug-themed limericks. Very near fine. Rare item from the halcyon "Summer of Love" year 1967.

n.p.:n.p., [1970].. Kitsilano: Privately published, ca. 1970. 4to. Suggests The Psychedelic Shop, Phase 4 Coffee House, Horizon Book Store, and several other places as shopping destinations for arts, crafts, and hip accouterments. Illustrated with a circular psychedelic drawing divided into 8 sections---one for each of the stores listed. Very near fine.

North Hollywood: Brandon House, [1967].. First edition of this Paperback Original. A novel about the hippie scene on Sunset Strip and the "Teenie Boppers, Brinkniks, and Hippies who were currently flooding the Strip and converting it to their own shocking psychedelic pattern." Nice wraparound cover art depicting the various counterculture types who frequented The Strip. Inside edges of covers toned, else fine. Scarce, only four copies on OCLC and one of the more sought after hippie exploitation titles.

New Rochelle, NY: Arlington House, [1972].. Hardbound in dust jacket. First edition. Rabid anti-hippie tract discussing "new hippie goals: incest and child molesting," "American hippies---drug-crazed Mansons or gentle flower children?," "the hippie church where where couples copulate on a giant cross," and more. Very fine, crisp copy.

London: Sphere Books,[1975].. First paperback edition. Thriller about: "a lone Englishman and two beautiful women are held prisoner by a gang of mad hippies led by the demented Starbuck. The hostages' only way of escape lies in a maze of underground caverns...and to get out they must face the crazy Starbuck and a raging brushfire." The real attraction here though is the cover photograph that features a fear-crazed, hirsute, bearded, ankh and bead-wearing, hippie who is fleeing the aforementioned brushfire with an unintentionally humorous expression of abject horror on his face. Sometimes a great cover is enough. Very good.

4to.. Handbill, printed in black on yellow stock, for this early event from the burgeoning LA hip scene, taking place the same month LSD became illegal and preceding the famous riots on Sunset Strip. The featured performer was seven-year-old soul singer Little Gary Ferguson, and among the other performers were The Mugwumgs soon to be renamed The Mamas & the Papas. However, the most intriguing attraction was "The world-famous artist and sculptor VITO with his wife, his child and his entire entourage of dancers and freakers." Vito Paulekas was a noted bohemian and bizarre character in the LA hippie scene who was the leader of a band of "freaks" who lived a semi-communal lifestyle and engaged in "sex orgies and free-form dancing whenever they could." Their dancing at various clubs often overshadowed the main performers. He rented a rehearsal space to Arthur Lee and Love, as well as the Byrds, and he and his troupe (some of of whom became The GTO's a.k.a. Girls Together Outrageously) accompanied the… Leer más

[San Diego: Phenix Publishers, 1968].. First edition of this Paperback Original. Features a terrific cover illustration by Robert Bonfils showing a naked hippie woman whose face and body are being painted with psychedelic colors by her necklace-wearing, naked boyfriend. In the background other hippie couples are adorning themselves with body paint. Small rubbed spot at bottom corner of front cover touching the author's name, very gentle undulation to the book, but very crisp, unread and tight, with no creases to spine, pages bright, an exceptionally nice, lustrous copy. A high spot of the genre due to one of Bonfils' best cover designs and the scarcity of this title. Only one copy on OCLC and we've handled only one other copy.

LA: LA Free Press, 1967.. Tabloid, folded as issued. Headlines: "George Harrison---My Dentist Turned Me On," and "Readers Defend Lovin' Spoonful." Articles and ads devoted to '60s countercultural themes. One page creased, paper slightly toned, very good.
