Two volumes of Hays's poetry as above, both limited editions and in Very Good+ condition or better. What distinguishes this collection are 4 original drawings by Leiber (only three were used) for Crisis with an accompanying apology by Ox Head Press publisher and editor, Don Olsen, apologizing for the near 25 years delay in returning them. Additional correspondence from Olsen to Leiber at the outset of the project (all on Ox Head Press letterhead); a typescript of Hays's "Crisis" addressed in manuscript to Olsen; additionally, a card designed and printed by Fredric Aldwyn Brewer at the Raintree Press on behalf of the Indiana University Libraries, with a warm handwritten message from Brewer thanking the recipient (presumably Leiber) for an engraving, is laid into Crisis. As issued, in reddish tan cloth with dust jacket. A very bright copy in a similarly fresh jacket with just a bit of rubbing to the edges and spine and some toning; $2.00 price intact on the front flap; previous owner name on the front free endpaper, else clean. Originally issued by the publisher the previous year in a limited edition, signed by Cummings, this is an early printing of the first trade edition. Uncommon in such a nice dust jacket. Firmage notes that the jacket of the second and third printings so note on the front flap. Curious as this jacket makes no such declaration. Firmage A18.b.

Pittsburgh: Carnegie-Mellon University Press, 1980. Soft Cover. Very Good binding. Octavo. 63, [1] pp. First paperback edition. warmly signed and inscribed on the title page by Wier. Pictorial wrappers are gently rubbed; previous owner names (same to whom the book is inscribed) on the verso of the front cover. A critically acclaimed and award winning poet, this is a reasonable copy of her second book.

New York: The New Press, 1996. Hard Cover. Good binding/Very Good+ dust jacket. Octavo. [6], 217 pp. First American edition; ex-library. In publisher's cloth-backed boards with dust jacket. A nice copy but for the library markings which are minimal--a top edge stamp and notation on the rear free endpaper, otherwise clean; the dust jacket is also quite fresh and retains the price on the front flap. Winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in literature, Gurnah was selected "for his uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee in the gulf between cultures and continents" (Nobel Prize website). First editions of Gurnah's work are scarce in the wake of his Nobel Prize.

Vol. I: xii, 388; II: viii, 375; III: viii, 398 pp. First Edition, Thus. 30 engravings (10 per volumes). Later binding in full calf in a 19th century simplification of the Harleian style with a large central lozenge stamped in blind within series of blind and gold tooled borders with ornamental corners; quite a handsome binding with morocco title and volume labels on an ornately tooled spine; board edges and turn-ins tooled in gold; all edges marbled; marbled endpapers; handsewn silk headbands and the remnants of silk ribbon markers. Some scuffing to the leather and a small split starting at the bottom of the front joint of Volume I.

East Hampton, NY: Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, 1997. Original Wrappers. Near Fine binding. Octavo. 15, [1] pp. Limited edition, one of 125 copies, signed by the author. As issued, sewn into stiff wrappers with printed, yellow jacket. A very bright copy. A short story inspired by a photograph. Als's publication was produced to coincide with the Painted Photographs 1840-1940 exhibit held at Glenn Horowitz Bookseller Inc. in East Hampton, NY, where the photograph was also on display.

New York: E. P. Dutton & Co, 1962. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Octavo. 884 pp. First American one-volume edition. As issued, in publisher's salmon cloth with title in gold on the spine; lacking the dust jacket. Binding is lightly rubbed at the spine and edges; generally it presents well; some foxing to the endpapers and some minor and limited staining to the bottom edge of the first blank; contents are clean. A nice edition of this modern classic.

Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott Company | printed by the Ballantyne Press, 1913. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Octavo. viii, 292; x, 292 pp., plates. As issued, in elaborately decorative cloth. Light shelfwear, only, including some very light silverfishing to the covers of Volume II. Contemporary gift inscription on the front free endpaper over both volumes. A very attractive set with nearly 4 dozen illustrations reproducing works by various artists, each with a printed tissue guard, all present as called for.

London: Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1948. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. 12mo. 514, [2 (blank)] pp. First English edition. As issued, in publisher's cloth. Binding is fairly fresh; textblock is a bit over-opened at the title page, but solid; stray ink (perhaps "24") on the title page, else contents are clean; two leaves have long vertical creases. Though a distinguished novelist, poet, and critic with a long bibliography, All the King's Men is arguable Warren's most recognized works. This is a presentable copy of the first English edition. Grimshaw A7.k1.

New York: Pegasus, 1971. Hard Cover. Very Good+ binding/Very Good dust jacket. Octavo. First edition. A clean bright copy in a lightly worn dust jacket with a slightly faded spine; inscribed from Squires to author, colleague, and literary critic John Aldridge. A nice association.

As issued, sewn into the stiff, printed wrappers. Light soiling to the front wrapper, but otherwise an exceptional copy of this early chapbook by the Poet Laureate.

As issued, in printed wrapper, this is a later printing of this Pulitzer Prize winning collection of poems signed by one of the most recognized American poets. Remarkably uncommon thus.

As issued, in flexible cloth with printed paper title label on the spine. Spine is fairly worn with the label largely perished, but the textblock, while a bit shaken is holding moderately well; covers are a bit soiled and the corners are bumped; previous owner names including that of Reginald Waterfield (1899), principle of Cheltenham College; an earlier name of P. Newman, Exeter College dated May 24, 1848. Contents are otherwise clean. Beautifully printed edition of Aristophanes with Pickering's distinct printer's mark on the title page. In his Checklist of Books Published by William Pickering, Kelly surmises that this was printed at Frere's expense in a small edition of about 160 copies. Kelly 1840.1.
