Album with Chekhov's brief biography and reproductions of rare photographs. These photos published on basis of the Chekhov House-Museum and the Museum of the Moscow Art Theatre collections. One of the most interesting photo made in 1898. There is Chekhov, who was reading text of The Seagull for the artists and Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, Konstan-tin Stanislavsky, Olga KnipperChekhova and Vsevolod Meyerhold. There are photos of the performances of The Seagull (1898), Uncle Vanya (1899), Three Sisters (1901) and The Cherry Orchard (1904) at Moscow Art Theater, including rare photo of Stanislavsky in the role of Ivanov (1904). Text by Chekhov's researcher professor Yuri Sobolev. Most likely the idea of publishing of this album belonged to him. Sobolev was chairman of the Society of Anton Chekhov and engaged in conducting of anniversary events dedicated to Chekhov. One of 1 000 and 3 000 copies printed. Rare playbills for the Meyerhold Theatre. These playbills were prepared for the following performances: The Forest (based on A. Ostrovsky's play; premier night – 19 January 1924), The Mandate (play by Nikolai Erdman; premier night – 20 April 1925), Roar, China! (play by Sergei Tretyakov; premier night – 23 January 1926) and The Government Inspector (based on N. Gogol's play; premier night – 9 December 1926).First three playbills were issued for the Meyerhold Theatre tour in Tashkent (the Uzbek SSR) and the last one – for the Moscow performance. It was the debut for five actors who studied at the Meyerhold's own school. The leading actors - Meyerhold's wife Zinaida Reich, Sergey Martinson and Erast Garin – were also participated in it. This is a pamphlet about the Russian tour of the musical 'My Fair Lady' by Frederick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner. The show took place in Moscow, Leningrad, and Kiev in the middle of 1960.
The pamphlet includes a Russian-language libretto and features photo illustrations depicting scenes and portraits of key cast members, including Lola Fisher (who served as Julie Andrews' understudy in the original Broadway production), Robert Coote, Edward Mulhare, Michael Evans, and Charles Victor.
The pamphlet's design was created by Felix Zbarskii, a talented Russian book artist.

One of 700 to 800 copies printed. Extremely rare. The collection includes playbills for operas (Eugene Onegin – 27 December 1941; Aida – 21 April 1942; La Traviata – 8 October 1942, 25 June 1943) and Swan Lake ballet (12 April 1942, 31 July 1942, 26 February 1943). They were performed by the Bolshoi Theatre during the evacuation in Kuybyshev (now Samara). On 22 October 1941 a bomb fell on the Bolshoi Theatre building. The reconstruction took two years and the theatre had again opened its doors to the public only in September 1943.One of the most well-known stars of Russian opera Ivan Kozlovsky wrote that La Traviata and Eugene Onegin became the first performances of the Bolshoi Theatre in Kuybyshev (December 1941; previously only extracts). Swan Lake was the first ballet performed at the evacuation (December 14, 1941).

The book includes three plays: Long Day's Journey Into Night (1941) by Eugene O'Neill, The Autumn Garden (1951) by Lillian Hellman and Orpheus Descending (1957) by Tennessee Williams. The first edition of Long Day's Journey Into Night in the USSR. Exactly for this play O'Neill was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize. The issue framed like the first edition of Orpheus Descending - in white, black and blue. OCLC locates two copies only: in the Penn State University Libraries and the American University of Armenia.

The 1935 Soviet tour of Mei Lanfang (1894-1961), a prominent Chinese male performer known for his portrayal of female roles, marked the first occasion when a traditional Chinese theater troupe visited Europe. This tour is considered a significant act of cultural diplomacy that helped break an impasse in foreign relations between the USSR and China, subsequently contributing to the formation of a defensive military alliance in response to escalating Japanese aggression (Japan's invasion of Manchuria in 1931). The tour was organized by the All-Union Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries (VOKS). The troupe arrived on March 12 and staged performances for six days in the Moscow Concert Hall, followed by eight days in Leningrad (where Stalin himself attended one of the performances). First and only separate life-time edition of Russian all-time favourite playwright Alexander Ostrovsky (1823–1886). Rare lithographed edition (from the manuscript text) of a play Hard-earned Bread used in theatre rehearsals. The play was first performed at the Maly Theater on 28 November 1874. This edition was signed by censorship on 21 December. Very rare. We couldn't trace any copy via OCLC.
