Top edge gilt. 19.5 × 13cm, 265pp. A selection of lays, fables and tales from the old French, much to do with chivalry and knights, with some reference to King Arthur and Arthurian mythology. Condition: A fair to good copy. The cloth is a little rippled along the front gutter with one small scuff to the cloth, and is slightly faded to the spine. The contents, however, are in good, clean condition, with secure binding.

Published as No 45 in Morley's Universal Library, Tales of Terror and Wonder is a compendium of late-eighteenth / early-nineteenth-century Gothic ballads, and comprising the contents of two collections: the anonymous Tales of Terror (1801) and Matthew Lewis's collection, Tales of Wonder (1800). Condition: This copy is in very good condition for age, with a little tanning to the pages and light bumping to the corners.

Hardback bound in the original blue cloth. 18 × 11cm, 193pp. A thorough grounding into the grammar of Old English, with examples from the classic texts of Old English (Anglo-Saxon Chronicle etc). The author states that Old English, or Anglo-Saxon was the language from the time of the settlement of Britain, beginning in the fifth century, until about 1100. Condition: The spine is faded but otherwise this is a good, solid copy.

Hardback in dustwrapper. 22 × 14cm, 220pp. Signed by Alexander Kelly to the ffep. From the library of Alexander Kelly (1929-1996), pianist and professor at the Royal College of Music. He gave his debut under Sir Thomas Beecham, and as a teacher his pupils included Peter Jacobs, David Owen Norris, Iain Burnside, and Jonathan Plowright. He married cellist Margaret Moncrieff, who also wrote two novels for the Chalet School series under the name Helen McClelland. This book provides a more enlightened understanding of fugal writing, primarily based on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Loosely inserted is a flyer for a concert at the Royal Academy of Music featuring the Harry Isaacs Trio, with some pencil annotation to the back. Condition: The book is in good condition, with clean pages and secure binding. The dustwrapper is dulled with wear to the head and tail of the spine.

Hardback in dustwrapper. 24 × 16cm, 320pp. The Royal Welch Fusiliers were present at all Marlborough's great victories; they were one of the six Minden regiments; they fought throughout the Peninsula and were present at Wellington's final glorious victory at Waterloo. In The Great War their officers included the writer poets Siegfried Sassoon and Robert Graves; their 22 battalions fought not just on the Western Front but at Gallipoli, in Egypt, Palestine, Salonika, Mesopotamia and Italy.
