A classic of gay literature, this is one of Ann Aldrich's best novels, winner of the Gold Medal awary. Aldrich "reveals the character and personality of the lesbian, her passions and pursuits, her loves and despairs." Clearly a period piece, this novel stands out as avoiding the pitfalls of that era, with an ending that promotes understanding.Mass market paperback is tight except for loose first page (before title page). Clean pages, tight. Paper is darkened from age.

A history and description of the famous Westminster Abbey, with an etched frontispiece and 15 drawings by Louis Weirter. Illustrations are tipped in. Front endpaper has note from a daughter to her mother, who was recipient of the book, dated 1/1/25. Otherwise, no markings; absolutely clean copy. Binding is tight, but frontispiece is loose from binding. All other pages are tight. Front cover has a few stains; spine covering is darkened and worn. Inside, book is a complete delight, with much information about the building and its history.

This is an advanced readers' copy of uncorrected proofs for a book to (then) be published by Swallow Press. It is a collection of Nin's words--passages drawn from the entire range of her public talks from 1966 to 1973. These 8 assembled "lectures" compiled by editor Evelyn Hinz, presents her themes about relationships, creativity, the struggle for wholeness, the unveiling of wam, the artist as magician, women reconstructing the world, moving from the dream outward, and experiencing our lives to the fullest possible. Condition is very good--clean, unmarked copy, with only the slightest darkening at the top edge of the covers.

This collection of children's stories by Gertrude Stein is amazingly entertaining and includes her famous "Rose Is A Rose." Published in 1939, this first edition is bound in white that is gold-stamped on the front with a circle of "Rose is a Rose." The spine, also stamped with author name and title and publisher, is darkened somewhat, and the spine edge of the boards likewise a bit soiled (probably can be cleaned). However, inside, the endpapers and text are spotless, very fine condition. The box of blue and white is soiled on the edge and has bumps and scratches. fair condition but intact and works to protect the book. Copy has signatures of Stein and Hurd, one of the 350 signed copies produced (no number).

This special Book Society edition was produced in coordination with publisher Jonathan Cape for sale in England. Condition is nearly fine--clean and tight pages, good binding, bright and fresh.
