The white buckram label is firmly pasted to the spine and is generally bright. The internals are generally bright but with some slight toning. The rough-cut text blocks are bright and white, but again with slight toning. The author's signature is on the front flyleaf, inscribed in black ink. Overall, this is a very good copy.

London: Chatto & Windus, (1984). First edition, first printing. This is a near fine copy. The Barbara Keiser dust wrapper is bright throughout, with one very light band of sunning at the top edge. It is slightly bumped at the corners. Not price clipped, showing the £8.95 net price. The boards are fine, as are the text blocks. This copy is free from inscriptions and is, overall, in near fine condition. The winner of the 1984 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction.
