Some very light, sparse foxing, else a very good clean copy.

Melbourne : Georgian House, 1947. Octavo, cloth in illustrated dustjacket (edges rubbed and worn), pp. x; [ii]; 322, photographically illustrated. Signed by the author on the dedication page. Owner's inscription 'Elsie M. Clark' dated 2.3.49, inscribed by her at a later date 'Peter Perry from', indicating she gifted the book to Perry (former Director of the Castlemaine Art Gallery), his bookplate to front pastedown.

Pen and ink on card, 140 x 175mm (mount line), signed lower right I.R.O., titled in the image in pencil, numbered '1' upper left, framed. A charming original work by one of Australia's most beloved children's illustrators. The pencilled titles and number indicate it was most likely prepared for publication. Provenance : private collection, Melbourne, since the 1970s

Square octavo (175 x 140 mm), publisher's pictorial wrappers (lightly marked), [8] pp, each page with a superb chromolithograph illustration incorporating silver leaf; a couple of pages with light handling marks to the margins, else internally fine; a very good copy. Delightfully illustrated and beautifully printed English nursery rhyme book. Note: On the front cover, each word ""sixpence"" is represented by a picture of the coin. The coins bear the date 1890. Rare. OCLC locates only the example in the University of Rochester Library.

San Francisco : David Emerson Smith for the Poets and Artists, February 1979. Octavo, colour printed wrappers (light edge wear and toning), pp. [iii]; 29, stringbound, black and white illustrations. Presentation copy, signed and inscribed inside the upper wrapper 'To David, in homo-erotic boy love David Emerson Smith' and also inscribed 'Love & Eros, the universe is born & lives in ecstasy, Dennis Dunn' (one of the contributors). 'This collection of poems is in part a response to the homophobic murder of Harvey Milk and George Moscone (a passionate homophile).  New York born Harvey Milk moved to San Francisco in 1972 where he opened a camera ship with his boyfriend in Castro Street. Le jeune sauvage dans la société was originally published in Paris in 1799. This obscure novel of the late Enlightenment was written by Augustin-Laurent Lejeune, a close associate of the notorious Saint-Just, ""Archangel of the Terror"", who appointed Lejeune Chief of the Police Bureau during the Revolution. The story opens with a shipwreck where the protagonists Stingel and Basill end up on an island in the South Seas whose position - calculated by the stars - is not far from New Zealand. Very rare. Pair of conjoined leaves, each page measuring 441 x 298 mm printed double column in black ink recto and verso, 50 lines in Roman type with rubrication in red and blue inks, chapter headings in red ink in upper margin, foliation upper centre. A fine specimen with exceptionally wide margins, framed in museum timber, overall framed measurements 560 x 705 mm. A fine large-format specimen incunable leaf from the first Venetian press, set up in 1469 by German brothers Vindelinus and Joannes de Spira (aka Johann and Wendelin of Speyer; Vindolino and Giovanni da Spira), just fifteen years after Gutenberg printed his Bible Latina. Celebration souvenir newspaper of the life of gay politician Harvey Milk who was assassinated eighteen months prior, with articles about gay political activism in San Francisco, and the future of the gay rights movement, inspired by the work of Milk. George French Angas (1822-1886) spent 18 months sketching and observing in Australia and New Zealand between 1844 and 1845. It was a period of decisive and irreversible cultural change. The young Angas excelled at capturing the minute detail of plants and people, objects and landscapes, and rapidly assembled a portfolio of 250 fine watercolours. In this fully illustrated volume, Philip Jones has used Angas's sketches, watercolours, lithographs and journal accounts to retrace his Antipodean journeys in vivid detail. Set in the context of his time, Angas emerges both as a brilliant artist and as a flawed Romantic idealist, rebelling against his father's mercantilism while entirely reliant upon the colonial project enabling him to depict early ways of life.
