The Heritage Press half title page is preceded by a presentation title page with a blank line to be filled in with name of the receiver. That title page bears the date, 1970. Royal 8vo. bound in pebbled green leather with elaborate gold leather tooling and stamped with black geometric design. Gold tooled dentelles. Kelly green silk moiré endpapers. 216 pp. The book is also larger than the Heritage Press edition measuring 7.5 x 10.5 inches. Fine condition.. With illustrations by R J Holden.

Ybor City, FL. This particular print has a limitation of 1/100. Perfect condition.. We had the pleasure of visiting John 15 years ago to watch the printing and coloring process and to visit the Everglades National Park for some bird watching. It was so lovely to see that the walls of the dining room of the Everglades National Park motel were graced with John's prints. A year later all had been swept away by a hurricane. The Birds of Florida, a limited edition collection of twenty different images, has been twenty years in the making. This amazing labor of love has finally been completed by John Costin with much loving support from his wife and staff. The adventure of this endeavor is visible in each and every hand-printed and hand-colored plate, all conceived and executed by John and company. Each print takes five copper plates to create and then each is meticulously hand-colored. The image size of each plate is 33" x 23.5. Framed they are dazzling and dramatic.

Very charming illustrations by Gig Goodenow.. I love this book! Poetry and full color cat portraits accompanied by preliminary sketches of cats doing what they do, by an artist who has certainly made a loving study of cats and kittens.
