We had the pleasure of visiting John 15 years ago to watch the printing and coloring process and to visit the Everglades National Park for some bird watching. It was so lovely to see that the walls of the dining room of the Everglades National Park motel were graced with John's prints. A year later all had been swept away by a hurricane. The Birds of Florida, a limited edition collection of twenty different images, has been twenty years in the making. This amazing labor of love has finally been completed by John Costin with much loving support from his wife and staff. The adventure of this endeavor is visible in each and every hand-printed and hand-colored plate, all conceived and executed by John and company. Each print takes five copper plates to create and then each is meticulously hand-colored. The image size of each plate is 33" x 23.5. Framed they are dazzling and dramatic.
