Washington DC: National Aeronautics and Space Administration, 1968. First Edition. B&W card wraps with two staple binding, illustration of space walk reproduced four times on the cover. Very good. 8" x 10.25", pp. 1 - 30, with frontispiece of an astronaut in space walk and B&W photos and illustrations throughout. This is the most uncommonly found booklet (EP-57) in a series of 13 (published on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of NASA. Some scuffing along spine vertical, light wrinkles emanating from spine where opened and read, however inside is clean and collectible. "Man in Space" covers the ground from those pre-Sputnik days when only a handful of scientists and engineers in the United States believed that man would ever fly in space, to the preparation for a manned lunar landing and return in this decade." (Introduction: George E. Mueller).

Included is an unresearched name and address insert. Four Congressman from Wisconsin sign a letter to President Ulysses S. Grant to appoint one of their collegues to a newly created Judgeship. This letter is not only signed by four Congressman, three of them were Generals in the Civil War.

Cadwallader Colden Washburn (1818 - 1882) was a businessman, politician, and soldier who founded a mill that later became General Mills. A member of the Washburn family of Maine, he was a U.S. Congressman and governor of Wisconsin, and served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

Halbert Eleazer Paine (1826 - 1905) was also a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Boston, MA: West and Richardson, 1818. First American. Blue printed wraps, bound into a red cardboard cover with tape along the spine. Very good. 5" x 8.5", pp. 6 - 40. Aging to paper and occasional fox marks with shadow of print text block on opposing page. A few spots and smudges on the cover. Enclosure has a chipped top right corner, but not affecting the pamphlet. Scarce account by an officer who was the Aide-de-Camp to General Ferrier during Murat's reign and had a first person opportunity to observe Murat when he was elevated to the King of Naples. Murat became Napoleon's brother-in-law through marriage and was executed for treason by a firing squad of his own men in 1815. "Murat had the courage of Cesar, the rashness of Charles the twelfth, the openness of Hery the fourth, and perhaps some of his good nature; but his genius and talents in military concerns, as well as politics, how far short in comparison to any of them!" (p 40).
