Walter Brown in his preface states 'It was my intention to have attached a Moral to each Fable, but on consideration decided not to do so, as it is not complimentary to the reader, who often would draw a much better Moral than would be generally added.' 68pp printed letterpress to decal edged wire laid paper, decorated with wood engravings by Thomas Bewick together with illustrative drop capitals from various sources.

Paris: Furne et Cie, 1842 Vol.1 - xxiv, 433pp. Vol.2 - 488pp. Profusely illustrated throughout by J.J.Grandville whose output was amazing for a relatively short life. French language texts. Both volumes moderately foxed throughout otherwise very good.

Undated, circa 1900. 95pp plus two contemporaneous loose advertising inserts. An interesting and slightly macabre insight into the thinking of the time. Perfect bound with soft printed covers. Small loss to upper spine and creases to lower corner.

Braunschweig: Georg Westermann, 1951 The history and techniques of textile printing in Germany. The book was both designed and illustrated by Erwin Bindewald in a lively and informative style. 168pp.
