A purple War Srvices stamp on the title page, and a longer one on the front free endpaper. Light wear to the spine tips, edges and corners. Still gives a good appearance. Illustrated with eight full page Woodburytype plates. .

A beautifully illustrated facsimile of the famous Library Shakespeare, a complete edition of Shakespeare's plays. Illustrated by Sir John Gilbert, George Cruikshank, and R. Dudley. The facsimile illustrations include many colourplates, numerous fine plates in monochrome, and many engravings throughout the text. A richly illustrated volume. Folio, (12 "x 10"), bound in full black leather, the spine and upper cover richly decorated and printed in red and gilt in all-over designs. All edges gilt, moire silk end-leaves. vi 396; 406, 476 pp. A pristine copy, as mint and unused. A STRIKINGLY HANDSOME EDITION WELL SUITED TO THE IMMORTAL WORDS WITHIN, and this in a binding of black leather gilt decorated. The colourplates are in the finest style of the period and set this edition apart from other library Shakespeare editions of both its time and ours.

Oblong folio. 37 black and white maps and charts showing sections of the propsed and existing sections of the highway through Guatemala to Panama. This is the plate volume only, no text. Printed paper wraps bound with rivets. The item has been folded once vertically with wear and loss to the covers. The maps have age toning but are mostly in very good condition, the vertical crease being more a bend on the maps than a crease. The size is 10 by 15 inches; some maps are larger and are folded at the right edges to fit. Only a good copy, but very scarce.

Salesman's sample book of nineteen (19) different leathers, most of which appear to be calf, embossed to appear more exotic (e.g. crocodile, snake, lizard, etc.). Each sample measures approx. 3.5" by 1.5". Sample book measures 3.5" by 1.5" by 0.75", and features a printed title card with title and address.

(CARL HAVERLIN,1899-1985, was a noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar, radio pioneer and president of Broadcast Music, Inc.) Scarce collection of tributes published by a group of Knopf's friends called "The Book Table," consisting of "a few each of publishers, booksellers, librarians, authors, designers and producers of books and book materials." Bound to style in quarter leather, red leather lettering piece, gilt; marbled paper boards. A near fine copy. Translated from the High-Dutch original. Backhoff traveled from Moscow to China via Siberia in 1654. Wagener traveled throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and America. This account is taken from his diary. He was in China in 1653. The account is quite short. .

A fine, unused copy in near fine unclipped dustjacket. Isherwood's travel writings through Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Laid-in is a ANS on a personal mailing card, postmarked June 25, 1949, with Isherwood's residential California address and phone number with old exchange printed at the top verso for message - 333 E. Rustic Road Santa Monica, California S. M 43913. Isherwood writes a chatty note to friend Hamilton Wright, confirmed "bachelor" with Manhattan address and Connecticut country house, wishing him well at Ham's Florida summer residence ("too hot for me. Here it's perfect" (meaning Santa Monica). He concludes " 'The S. American book will be appearing in the fall.

Introduction and notes by Thomas Wright, The Introduction is of bibliographical importance as it sketches the history of the early editions of Malory: Caxton (one complete copy; one incomplete); de Worde (two editions, one copy of each known); Copland; East; and finally the edition of 1634. Each volume with the engraved circular bookplate of Emily Morris Gallatin on the front pastedowns. The simple signature of Arthur Lewis, 1949, on each of the front free endpapers. And on the front free endpaper of volume 1 a nearly full page inscription dated 2018. Only volume 1 has been fully opened; the remaining volumes are partially unopened. Aside from the inscription and signatures, these volumes are in very good condition showing only traces of wear at the corners, edges and spine tips. This is a curious edition.
