Sobre este artículo

No ownership marks. Maps. Numerous photographs some in colour. 183 pages clean and tight. THE CAMPAIGN OF 1914 turned the world upside down. Every nation involved was drastically changed. In the world political arena it was the end of European predominance and the beginning of global politics. It paved the way for the dissolution of colonial empires. From a military perspective the campaign was significant because never before had strategies been so minutely and elaborately planned. Yet the brilliantly planned campaign ended in a stalemate in the trenches. The Campaign of 1914 was also noteworthy because it introduced new offensive as well as defensive weapons and tactics. Air reconnaissance and observance of troop movement, propaganda, barbed wire, trenches, machine guns - all were dominant factors. The impact of the war was so great that it took Northern France a decade to repair the damage. The loss of manpower was felt by all sides, not only on the front, but at home as well. The French Army mutinied, the most disciplined army in the world looted, and in the end Germany and her allies collapsed into revolution. The social and political structure of Europe was indeed permanently changed. .
