Sobre este artículo
Paris: Andreas Wechel, 1560. Early Edition. Hardcover (Half Leather). Very Good Condition. Contemporary rolled pigskin and leather over boards, boards heavily worn at the corners and fore-edge. Lacking the front blank, notes to pastedown, neat early underlining and marginalia throughout, 3 pages towards the end heavily marked. Modest age toning, a bit of worming in the rear gutter - a sound copy of the Editio Postrema of one of Fernel's central works. 425, (38), with printer's mark at rear. Ferguson 229 (1593 ed.)
One of the most important medical thinkers of the Renaissance, he introduced the term physiology, and was the first to describe the spinal canal. Though important in moving medicine away from superstition, he was also an expert in the angelic and demonic sources of illness, much discussed in this volume which was translated into English as On the Hidden Causes of Things. Catherine de Medici famously consulted him on her troubles becoming pregnant and he theorized that taste buds are fat sensitive and he was recently proved correct. Size: Octavo (8vo). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Medicine & Health; Magic, Paranormal & Occult. Inventory No: 044758.
