Originally known as a guohua (traditionalist) painter, by the 1960s he was also renowned as a modern impressionist and expressionist painter. Chang is regarded as one of the most gifted master forgers of the twentieth century. Hu Chung-Hsien (1912 - 1989)was a photographer who especially took photos for President Chiang Kai-Shek. Someday in December 1980, the Chinese ink painter master, Chang Dai-Chien, had fervently plum blossoms in his mansion. Hu came to enjoy watching the view and then took several photos of plum blossoms for Chang. Same time next year, the master invited Hu again. One of the delicate photos received Chang Dai-Chien's so much admiration that he even made a poem, writing on the picture to depict how fine and beautiful the picture was taken by Hu Chung-Hsien.
