Blue cloth cover elaborate gilt stamped spine and gilt stamped pictorial on front cover is worn at extremities but in good condition. Boards and spine are straight. Binding is tight. Front end sheet has the antiquated personal stamp of "Karl Brandes, Braunschweig and an antiquated inscription in German dated 1866. Frontispiece engraved portrait of Lincoln is very good. Numerous illustrations, 8 engraved plates, and fold-out map. Pages are clean except for a very scarce correction of a word in pencil. .
