INSCRIBED BY BURROWS on front endpaper to "The Honorable Judge McCurdy/ From his old friend & Most [illegible] Servent [sic]/ Silas E. Burrows." Burrows' record of the proceedings before the court in the case of the American citizen Silas Enoch Burrows [1794-1870] vs British Ship, Australia, Formerly American Ship Rob Roy in which Burrows lost his rights to his ship, the Rob Roy, while it was at dock in Hong Kong, then a colony and dependent territory of the UK, when "the surveyor, the agent of the owner [condemned] and then purchased the ship." Charles Johnson McCurdy [1797-1891], the 40th Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut was, at the time of publication, a Judge of the Connecticut Superior Court. 8vo blind-stamped brown cloth lettered in gilt on front "BRITISH ADMIRALTY PROCEEDINGS AMERICAN SHIP ROB ROY"; 87 pages plus index. Spine faded else very good. Scarce to rare.
