Tall Folio (17" x 9 1/2"). vi, 52 pp. Profusely illustrated with sepia-colored photographs, printed on light brown paper. Bound in photographic blue wrappers with spinal inset silver string tie with unprinted galssine DJ. Original photographic illustrated blue paper covered slipcase. Also enclosed is a trifold broadside (17" x 35") "A Progress of Computation" printed in two colors on stiff gold-colored paper, illustrated with 38 B & W photographs with identifying text. This book is a celebration of the first 25 years of computing technololgy. Contains: a 1 page Message from Walter Carlson, President of The Association for Computing Machinery; ACM Principals; Award Announcement; 2 pp. biography of Grace Murray Hopper; a 27 pp. article with bibliography by Saul Rosen, "Electronic Computers: A Historial Survey." Also there are 5 pp. reproducing articles (in part) from various issues of the New York Times; 2 pp. chronology of "Software Developments compiled by Grace Murray Hopper"; 1 page of excerpts from The London News; 6 pp. of multiple unidentified photographs from the years of computing machinery. The book and broadside are fine and the slipcase has light rubbing. An important document on the history of computers. Scarce.. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Fine.
