Sobre este artículo

Sundog, LTD, Nashville, TN, 2003. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Fine Condition/Very Good-. Book Signed by Author. Warmly inscribed on the dedication page: "[Name], | Thank you for | inviting me to Ohio! | I had a wonderful | experience. Enjoy | the book! | [Signature and 2003 date]." Willcox served as an officer in Company B, Third Michigan Calvary, during the Civil War. The title comes from a "bold and spirited speech" entitled "The South in War Time" Willcox gave in 1863 "to a packed crowd of Confederate soldiers and civilians at a courthouse in Lexington, Tennessee." From the blurb on the front flap: "According to the major, it was the first and only instance in which a Union officer spoke directly across the bloody chasm." The appendices include the Roster of Third Michigan Cavalry (pp. 310-338). WorldCat lists only eight libraries holding the book (OCLC # 56942481). Size: 9" -11" - Small Quarto (Sm. 4to). 383 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight, bright and unmarked. Bound in light blue cloth over boards with the title in bright gilt on the spine. Corners are sharp. The book itself shows no shelf wear. The background of the unclipped (but unpriced) dust jacket is a dark blue, so it shows substantial rubbing, especially at the folds. There are a couple of small (1/8") tears at the head of the spine, resulting in some creasing) and there is a 1/4" tear at the bottom of the fold for the rear flap, also resulting in some creasing. The jacket is now protected in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Biography & Autobiography; Willcox, Lyman G., -- 1831-1918; United States. -- Army. -- Michigan Cavalry Regiment, 3rd (1861-1866); United States; Modern; Military & Warfare.
