Sobre este artículo

Argentorati (strasburg): Josias Rihel. Good with no dust jacket. 1573. First Edition Thus. Vellum. [ii], 302 pp. Small octavo. Bound in contemporary limp vellum Latin manuscript with some rubrications. Spine covering is chipped at top. Title page with woodcut logo of the Rihel family of printers showing a winged female figure standing on a pedestal in a landscape, holding a square and bridle; in an oval scrollwork frame. Title page a bit grubby, a very few pages have some marginalia, general light foxing throughout but more pronounced at the rear. Lacking A1 (a blank) , and ending at page 302 (V1) which is the last page of text. Without the index. The first Strasbourg edition of Erasmus's adages edited by Havenreuter (1548-1618) just before he was granted his doctorate. Havenreuter worked with Johann Sturm, a major figure in Strasbourg humanist/Reform circles, all supported and printed by Rihel, the Strasbourgian printer. OCLC 633502403. Quite a scarce edition of Erasmus's adages, WorldCat locates only 1 copy in North America and 5 copies in Europe. In Latin with quite a bit of Greek. An attractive copy of this rarity. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 302 pages .
