"Translation of: An Address to the freemen of Pennsylvania, from the committee of correspondence for the city of Philadelphia, appointed, by the friends of James Ross, to correspond with their fellow citizens on the subject of the election of a governor (Evans 35081). Signed on p. 19 by Levi Hollingsworth and nine others. Attributed to Joseph Hopkinson by William Cobbett in a letter to Edward Thornton dated Feb. 19, 1800" [NAIP].
Ross was a Federalist whose campaigns stirred the passions of his friends and Jeffersonian opponents alike.
